I've got a Helix 10 & 12. I can't seem to find a sunshade for them anywhere, anyone know a source or have made their own?

I saw somewhere that kydex was used to make one. Can't remember where it was. Been meaning to do this for my garmins.
Here is one way to make one. A quick online search for kydex, it looks like you can make pistol holsters with it also.

What about JB weld? They have lots of different ones, plastic, metal, etc.
Too darn late. Just ordered the Kydex on Amazon, bought some combat scissors, and a long length of Velcro. Already have the heat gun. I may not be able to read and understand my fancy Helix 10 but I will be able to see it in the sunlight (smile).

Dhaire - please post your experience / results. I'm going to order some shortly.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, the only kydex I can seem to find comes in 12"x12" sheets or 48"x96" for a lot more money. Anyone found a place to order it in custom sized sheets?

I like some of the colors from this one -

Measure twice, order once. Ordered the two sheets of 8x12 Kydex from Amazon. Did not measure my Helix 10 and the width is a tad over 12” therefore not enough to make the sides. Reordered a 8x24 piece. Duh.

Guys !!! the Screen on Helix -- is it different from the material used to make the other Humminbirds
I found a source but am waiting until Friday to determine if they come in. If so, I will order a few (some for friends) and post the website here for everyone. My larger sheet of Kydex came in but I would rather have a professional visor as I do not trust my finite abilities to make something that does not look like a third grader project.

Mine arrived by USPS PM today and had it installed in 15 minutes. First time out with it will be tomorrow morning.
I hope you get it soon.
Even though I sat in the shade catching bluegills most of the morning, I did get out in the bright sun for some trolling. The sunshade did a good job reducing glare on my Garmin. So far, I'm very pleased.
Mariner Direct expects them in this week. You can order one in advance and they will ship it to you once they have their hands on them. I ordered two as I have a buddy that also has a Helix 10.

Well, darn. Just got notified that BerkleyPro, the manufacturer in Australia, has not completed the batch for Helix 9&10 yet but is expected to shortly.

They are due in to Dallas this week so if you pre ordered they should be heading your way early next week. Lots of sun left.

And since this is the only place I could find them I figure this might take a load off searching. https://www.mariner-direct.com/storefront.html

Finally got mine and it was worth the wait.
Took me a minute or two to understand the directions (which side of the wing knob) but fit really well and works great!Attachment 310243Attachment 310242

Hey guys if you don't care if your shade looks store bought buy some Kydex or Holstex and save lots of money. Especially if you have more than one unit. Super easy to work with if you have an old toaster oven (it does put out fumes) and or heat gun. Go watch some YouTube videos to get yourself comfortable with using it. If you mess it up just reheat and try again. I have used it to make holsters and sheaths and easy to learn how to mold it to what ever shape you need. It cuts easy and drills easy. Sand and buff the edges for a professional look. I think Velcro could be used for attaching to your unit. I am going to try this myself and will add pics when done.
