Deepwater boat ramp 'CooperCreek'
Just wanted to get the word out about the area we locals call Deepwater boat ramp. It is straight East of the town of Deepwater and ends in Cooper creek. Two great guys that I know have taken over the upkeep and trying to bring it back to what it was in the past. Brent and Mark have already did some major work to the ramp by adding a truck load of rock to the end of it so trailers will not fall off the end of the ramp when the water is low like right now. They have also moved the dock to the south side of the ramp. That's makes it easier for people to use and also keeps it out of the way if someone wants to load or unload two wide in the gravel area beside the ramp. They are also working on getting the bathrooms back open. After that it will be maintaining everything such as mowing and clean up when needed. They have some flyers made up and ask for a voluntary $15 annual donation to help them with upkeep. I let them know I would try and help them out when I can and would love to see a fundraiser of some sort to help them out. Not counting all the rock they dumped they will have fuel cost for mowing/weedeating and supplies like toilet paper to be bought. It has a nice pavilion that gets used for tournament weigh ins a couple times a month and I myself have used it for picnics with the family after fishing with he kids. I encourage guys who have never used it to go give it a try sometime and see what you think of the area, ramp, bathrooms and pavilion. If anyone has any idea for raising some money for these guys to willing to pitch in and help with labor needs just let me know.

I believe the COE owns all the ramps/launches on the lake. As far as I know there is no private ramps/property on the lake. With out these guys who have formed this group "Friends of Deepwater boat ramp" this ramp/area would be just like Otter Creek, Clear Creek, PrettyBob, and the Tightwad ramps. Basically unusable by the average boater/fisherman. Not sure how the "lease" works but I don't see the booming metropolis of Deepwater being able to or willing to pay anything to lease it with nothing in return.

After the rock they added settles from some trailer usage they are going to add a little more. I know the money that was paid for the rock came out of the two guys pocket that have "taken over" cleaning and fixing the bathrooms/ramp/pavilion and mowing of the grounds. That's why I suggested to them they do some fundraisers so it's not all their time invested and money invested in to it. They are the kinds of guys that will do it with or with out other people's help/money. Just a couple great guys that want to make it look nice and be usable again. Brent and Mark are stand up guys.
I also will use it more now that the dock will be able to be used again and no more drop off at the end of the ramp when the water level is low. With the dock I can fish alone and tie off while parking or getting the truck/trailer backed in.

I think the COE could pitch in some gravel at these small ramps at least.
Not sure who did it or where the funds came from but they did put new rock down at the Tebo creek ramp off division road late last fall. Sure helped that launch/ramp and added a little more parking to. I heard they added some to the Deepwater ramp area but I sure could not see any difference in the ramp or area leading to it. Still rough as a cob [emoji4]
I used the Deepwater ramp today and it was all mowed up nice and people were using the restrooms and having a picnic at the pavilion when I pulled out this afternoon. Talked to some younger guys that were hanging out by their truck cooling off in the shade to take a break from he sun and heat. Great guys. It was super hot out there today. I used my umbrella up front while dipping trees. It helps a lot but when the real feel is over a 100 it's hard to stay cool even under the shade of it. But I think I will go do it tomorrow again anyway.
