What is the best portable minnow container. I am looking a the Frabill 8qt Personal Bait Station, is it good or do you recommend something else?
That's the one I have. The minnows stay cool all day. I'm not sure how many it holds but I usually get 2 dozen and there is plenty of room for more. The only drawback is the lid doesn't have a waterproof seal. Water can slosh out. Not a big deal for my boat but if you are running across the lake fast you may lose too much water. I do like the built-in net so you don't lose it. I believe Amazon has it on sale right now.
I use the medium size Engle. A little pricy but I have had mine for 4 years so when you average it out not bad. Keeps minnows fine. When we go to Mississippi we get and keep a pound at a time without any issues. Can't say enough good about it.

But the Engle is water tight, so no sloshing water all over the boat or truck. If my wife hadn't have bought it for me on Father's Day, I would probably still be using a cooler.

I use the frabill insulated bucket. Idk exact size bout 2 gallon. Got the latch lid. Got a lil hook deal on the side to put one of them cheap battery OP aerators. And a spot for the net. Whole set up run ya less than 20$. I've had up to 6 dozen in it..wouldn't go much more than 8 dozen prolly. Can keep em for bout a week If I dont use em all. Bring it inside and run aerator 3 times a day or so for half hr or so. Change half the water every 3 days or when it's real bad.
I use the small Engle, the aerator that comes with it is a little loud, but runs for days with one set of batteries.
I stuff a tall styrofoam minnow bucket inside of a 5 gallon bucket. Put my mino-mizer in and don't worry about them.
I drain out most of the old water and add new lake water everyday. Over a weekend I lose a couple in the summer.

Bought a 19 quart igloo hinged lid cooler for less than $15, drilled holes just big enough for an air line in the lid. Bought a air bubbler for around $7, and zip tied it to the cooler. Cheap minnow bucket, and works just like the more expensive Engel.

I have the med Engel too. Been using it about a year now. One set batteries last the three 8-10 hour days that my trips have been. Very minimal minnow loss. Not knocking cheaper styrofoam buckets, but I don't worry about breaks, cracks, or leaks with the Engel.
I have 2 Engels the small one and the large one. If I’m fishing all day I carry both of them I put 2 lbs of minnows in the big one and put it in the back of the boat and keep the small one up front with me . I use an oxygen system and run a line to each cooler. I can’t stand to hear a pump running . I don’t loose any minnow and they are so lively they act like they are on steroids It is nice sometime not to have to fool with minnows and catch fish.

I'am not a fan of that version. It slosh's too much water out. The magnum version or even the Engel version is better all the way around. What I ended up doing was taking an old Yeti Roadie, and route my bubbler line through the drain plug. Seals good, and will keep minnows, goldfish, or bream alive all day depending on what I am fishing for.
I look at it as a Buy Once Cry Once deal.
I use a cat litter bucket lids seals good enough water don't splash out its the square bucket drill a hole in the lid for the aerator hose then I took an air cut-off tool cut a little slot in the ridge around the bucket wide enough for the little clip on the air pump works great and its cheap think its the Tidy cat littler anyway its a yellow square bucket plus wouldn't be hard to insulate it if you wanted to
Another happy Engel cooler/bait tank user. I have the 30qt and use it as cooler or holding minnows when crappie fishing.
