I plan on headin to rend next time I get a day off work and try to fish out of my waders. Anybody try wading rend? I’m gonna give it a try but I’m kinda curious what the bottoms like or if it’ll be more trouble than it’s worth.

I've waded in the past its fun but more difficult. I used a jig and a 9 foot pole. My preference from the boat is a 12 foot rod with cork and minnow. The bottom varies from muck to hard clay. Floating logs can be troublesome.
Thanks, do you think a 10 foot rod would be to long? I’d use my 9 foot but it awful flimsy
Yes, shorter rod is easier to handle when fishing at water level IMO. Trout net can be handy as well. Watch out for the buckbrush it can be nasty and cut you or waders up. I use shorts and old tennis shoes.
Also, watch for snakes.

I wade a lot in spring to great success hitting areas boaters can't get too. shorts and sandals is my thing. good luck
Caught a bunch of little ones in the bushes in about thigh deep water. 4 keepers but two were released prematurely on their way to the basket
Kept 8 Friday all males largest 13.5" out of minnows before 10:30am. Fished farther south yesterday kept 14 9-11.5". Maybe 5 were females oozing eggs water temp up to 79F.
Thanks so much for the report. I hope to get other there this weekend and I hope they stay in the bushes.
