What is the speed needed for the Helix DI and or SI to work correctly?
The chart speed should match the speed your boat is moving. I normally have mine set at 3
In my boat, I get the best images at 4-5mph and my chart speed set to match my speed (4 or 5). I also have si at the bow and a chart speed of 1 to 2 produces good images while easing around with the trolling motor.
I asked the folks at Humminbird this same question. They said that at least 1.5 mph and faster to get good picture.
If I mount DI on trolling motor what is the lowest speed that will produce a good picture?
I have had DI on the bow for a long time and it has always worked well even when going at slow speeds. I now have SI up front as well, only had it out once but I was getting good SI images last weekend spider rigging at .6 to .8. I think you will be happy with the performance at low speeds. My unit is Mega Humminbird

I snicker to myself everytime I hear HB'S recommendation of imaging only works at faster speeds ...

Thanks rnvinc hit the ball out of the park again!
Mine give me great images at all speeds except on plane. I have transom transducer mounted pretty high so it doesn't get damaged but is in aerated water on plane. Most folks recommend matching scroll speed to mph.
I have di and 2 d at front and fish bp much,I can see the fish on di while I got TM on spot lock,it's always s mater of learning what your unit is telling you

I run mine on lowest speed on trolling motor and like 5 mph with 5 on unit for side scanning on main unit .
Mine works well enough at .4 MPH to show me shell cracker in the beds.

Nice pic.! The Megas really rock!
I am different when I run SI as I always am looking for fish and not structure, so I will run my SI scroll speed at 10 much of the time. For me this elongates fish marks and shadows, makes them easier to pick out. Once I find fish I may go back to match boat speed to scroll speed to better understand how and what they are relating to.
