Stay in the boat lanes and idle when going outside of the poles/markers.
More importantly, watch out for bass boats !
Watch out for rogue waves and killer wind!
WATCH OUT FOR CLIFFORD . WHITE BOAT . LOL
You forgot the yellow shirt! LOL
Fish are scattered all over the place. I know folks who have caught several limits in the shallow grass now for the last 3 weeks. Caught some myself. Others are catching limits of prespawners in deeper water. This is what I prefer and will be there Friday trying them again. I did good last weekend in 8-10 fow. I guess the best advice I could give is pick a pattern you enjoy and stick with it, you should do well

Thanks for the advice and information. I will give an update tomorrow night on how it goes.

Man, I will be surprised if you don't catch em! We are in a stretch of the best weather we have had all season, and the fish are biting! Good Luck!
Not a very good first experience. Hit a stump in 20 fow and knocked a chunk out of my foot. Got up against some rebar an scratched my boat up and only caught 12 fish. Fished all day. The boat traffic was something I’ve never experienced but a good learning experience.

Sorry to hear you had troubles but way to go on catching some fish. Never know when murphy's law will get you.
The Rex has a steep learning curve... Sorry to hear about the damaged boat...
I went to the lake for a couple hours Sunday after church and it was a mistake trying to put in at Tommy's around 4 o clock I was in a traffic jam for over an hour with all the Catch a Dream bass anglers(240 Boat Tournament) trying to load up and watch weigh-in. It was just a gentle reminder of why I stick to the afternoons during the week. I caught plenty of fish but fighting the bass fisherman is just not worth it on the weekends at Tommys.
Sorry to hear about your boat. I live in Madison, MS and as a rule of thumb do not run your motor outside of the river channel unless you know the lake. I don't fish oil well woods ever because I can't get in there without hitting all kinds of stuff. When the lake gets low this Summer I'm gonna try to find a way in and mark it on my GPS.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck. If you don’t have navigation on your electronics get a good map and study it well. When it shows flooded timber they serious.

THEY DON'T KID WHEN IT COMES TO THE FLOODED TIMBER . IT WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE WORST DAYS TO BE YOUR FIRST . BIG BASS TOURNAMENT ALWAYS BAD . NOW THAT I HAVE RETIRED I FISH MOSTLY DURING THE WEEK . GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEXT TRIP .
It was a learning experience. I will make the trip again with more knowledge than I had on this trip. I don’t know the names of the areas of the lake but i fished around pole #34 area and #7 area. Mostly in 10-18 fow. I assume it was a good area since there were several boats there. I was on the edge of the creek channel at #34 when I hit the stump. My Garmin showed me in the channel and i started to get on plane when it hit.

There are trees in the channel that are hitable when they water is down far enough... I hit some rebar yesterday in the old Carolina Skiff... I think it has a new battle scar!
#34 WOULD BE AROUND THE S CURVE . MUST HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO THE POST . ANYWAY NEXT LET US KNOW . I DO NOT FISH ON SUNDAYS . AND MACPAPPY TURN AT POLE 12 AND HEAD STRAIGHT AT THAT STANDING TREE . TAKE YOU RIGHT TO OLD 7 . THERE ARE LOTS AND LOTS OF GOOD PLACES . JUST GETTING TO THEM SOMETIMES IS A PROBLEM . GOOD LUCK . I AM STILL LEARNING .
The S curve can be really good at times but it is also one of the most fished spots on the Rez, the welfare hole is second, oil well woods is third. Also all of the traffic funnels there and can make a feèshrman miserable on an otherwise calm day. There are better places if you put your time in. I always idle mid way into the navigation channel before getting down on the throttle. Lots of stung hanging around the edges in places.

Thanks for the info. I’m headed to the river this weekend and Grenada the next. I’m going to squeeze a trip back to the Rez soon.
