Fishing has been that good! The Belly Spinner Chub has been BIG CNBG eye candy right now.
Got a bum arm - so could only tye 3 at a time... Had to lower the vise, little uncomfortable. Forgot to do some blue eyes.

I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to see your work better so I did a quick touch up of your photo. Anyway lets see if it helps any.

Found these fish in 19 to 22 FOW. Was using 2lb test with the new 1/48th jigs, tipped with crickets.
nice home made underspin! I had a few tied for trout this season other hair materials!
thnx raw
I tied them originally with marabou (still use it) but found the flank feathers to hold up better.
Caught another foot long Bluegill today. 1st cast with a fresh Belly Spinner.

Beautiful jigs and your fish are always amazing as usual, Sonny.
I remember first tying and trying your belly spin and tail gunner jigs many years ago. Excellent to have in any arsenal and I have caught quite a few messes with em.
I should use em more often but old guys like me get set in their ways.

Everybody has their favorites Adam.
Tried and true patterns, now, can't believe on how long these have been around....
Nice when you catch trophy fish on your own tyes!
Adam - Junglejim and I forget who were doing the "tailgunner". I think Pup was doing stuff to extend the swivel further back. There's a tutorial that junglejim did, lashing the swivel to a jig, on another site.
I used Jims tutorial on the swivel when learning how to best tie them onto the hook. Have used it often :)
I have trouble seeing anything where his tutorial is. At times for a short time I can add a comment. I think my old computer is being hard headed! LOL
Good to see your gill buddies in the pics, as always they love to pose :)
Led is the "Bluegill Whisperer". Amazing how those fish would calm down and allow him to take their picture and not move. I can't do it. Tried but unsuccessfully.
I'm with you on that Jim. The only time they settle down for me is when I drop em in the net for release. Other than that they flop around like Smallmouth.
Thnx for the comments guys
Still waiting for you to check some of these fish out Ronnie.... Always enjoy your videos.
Told you the secret Jim, LOL - promise them you'll let them go...
Two more 2 lb. Bluegill - last one was 2lb 4 oz. - attributed to the 1/48th Chub Belly Spinner Jig. Caught on 5/15 & 5/16.

I have only been fortunate to get into that kind of bluegill size one time. A friend and I found them bass fish in 11' of water. We just went and got some crickets as we were not ready for that other than having our ultra light rigs with us. This was in the 1970's, lol! We had 42 and the smallest was 3/4 pound and largest was 1 3/4 pounds. Was a lot of fun, but then these big bluegills do go deep after their spawn.
LedHed you must be the master of bluegills!
