I know this seems simple, but what are some tips for storing a large amount of plastic lures for crappie? I have accumulated quite the collection over the last couple years and trying to come up with a better storage solution than have 20-30 bags in a tackle box. Pictures would be appreciated as well. Thanks
Are you wanting to keep them in the original packaging? If not, a deep Plano 36 or 3700 series, with dividers works for me.
Great question that I'm not sure there is an answer for. I like to keep mine in the original packages, but I'm tired of having 30 packs of jig bodies laying in the bottom of my tackle bag, underneath the boxes that I originally got to put them in. Packages of Bobby Garland baby shad baits don't fit well in a Plano Stowaway boxes, or at least the ones that I have. I'm seriously thinking about keeping the tackle bag with one box for jigheads and one box for minnow rigging then putting the bags of bodies in gallon ziplock bags. One bag for clear water colors, one for muddy, etc...
If you come up with a good idea, let us all know.

I have alot of plastics and I keep them in Plano containers. I label each one so that I can find what I am looking for. When I hit the lake I pull what I need. I store all of my tackle like this.
I use the worm tackle bags. Work like a champ!
I use the worm notebooks for all my bags of plastics and try to sort by color.
What I use is the shower curtain hangers and pass it through the hole in the original packages " monkey milk, opening night etc." on one hook and " electric chicken, cajun cricket" on another. All of this gets stowed in a tupperware bread box along my phone and wallet, I call it my $10 tackle box. You know when you walk through W M or your favorite tackle store and you find a color you dont have just pitch it in there. I know have two and working on my third.

I used to use Plano 3600 series boxes and take the baits out of the packs but the weight of the bodies make the dividers sag and I liked to keep them in original packaging. I found that the 3730 size box is twice as deep as the 3600 series and the plastic bags will fold over and store very nice.

Yeah I've always heard mineral oil also. But on the same hand, I've had some baits stored for many years and they havent dried out at all. But I always keep them covered out of the sun unless I'm grabbing one. The plastic softeners in the baits are what makes the dividers warp overtime. But that is how I like to store mine; in planos loose in dividers. Everyone has their own preference.Quote:

I fish from my yak so space is limited. I don't have room for those tubs in the previous posts. I've tried keeping them in the original bags, regular planos, waterproof planos, etc but never found a great solution until this spring. I picked up one of these from Cabelas on sale:

If you have a vacuum sealer you can take each one of those bags and vacuum seal the middle of it to essentially put two types/colors of bait in each bag (don't vacuum seal the closing part of the bag obviously). This doubles the baits you can put in. Additionally you can then purchase one of these:

It fits perfectly in the inside zipper pocket and nicely organizes my jig hooks. And lastly, if you need additional bags (Cabelas discontinued selling the inserts for whatever reason?) for spares or just to fit more in the binder, these fit perfectly:

I believe you want the ones that fit the 8x10 binder. And there you go! The binder is slightly thicker than a 3600 plano box (depending on how many extra bags you add) but about the same dimensions length and width. It fits perfectly on the side of my kayak seat. On the other side I have a Plano 3640 waterproof with floats, weights, terminal extra, etc. If you'd like I can try and get pictures later. It really is a clean, neat setup.
