Flycaster ,thats why I was asking ,haven't seen many pic's from Monroe or anywhere ,Sorrydog thinks for the info RR
WIND WIND WIND since January.... Can't get a break! Worst year ever for wind....
I single pole jig only My worst year of the last 5! I have caught fish but really had to work for them. Probably less than 50% of what I caught in previous year. However..... I never once thought “Man I wish I was workin “
Can’t wait for next year.

I haven't fished Monroe, Crescent, or Harney, which I had done last year. I caught the ultra light bug and have had an excellent time with the 2 lb rigs I have. Last year the river stopped flowing and I had a bite going that was almost off the charts, but there has been more rain this year so that bite hasn't surfaced this year. I'll troll again soon and will show when I do.
Tom and I have had a very good speck season here in NE Florida. Dead lake was hot in March. We do not keep any fish under 12 inches and have been getting enough of those to feed our families and give a friend a few. The count of throw backs under 12" is normally running around 50 fish. We spider rig jigs 5 rods a side off the bow and I normally drag a jig on a float way back and it catches a few. For me it is a lot more fun to real in a fish then to swing them into the boat with a 16 to 20 foot pole. I tell Tom that is just one step higher then using a yo yo or a bush bob. This month the fish have been running smaller with just a few going a pound and a half. Don
Well it was an, on again off again (more off than on) year for me. About the time I think I have a good pattern and can take some friends it goes to crap. Three weeks ago caught 50 from one spot (nicest average fish of the year) the next week zip..........
Seems like more and more pressure on the specks every year hope they had a good spawn this year..............but still not like the pressure on the shrimp, holy crap 12 midnight and 100 boats out shrimpin in the middle of the week
I miss shrimping. We castnet them up here and my back will just not let me do that anymore. My son bought one of those framed nets you hang in the water but we had no luck up here doing that. Should have known that as in many years of shrimp here I have never seen them used. Throwing a heavy net in deep water can be a workout. We once took 55 pounds of large shrimp, before the 5 gallon limit, letting the net sink far behind the boat in 23 feet of water. I was a younger man then. I take it you guys are dipping them? Don
Yea we dip em in winter and spring but summer gets a run in Daytona that guys cast net em. Thats full contact shrimping at its finest. Them box nets are more a pain in the arse than worth mucking with to me.
Hey Rice Rocket, this fall and winter were sure an adjustment! Fished Talquin in Nov, Jan, and Feb. with good results but had a real cold spell that we had to work real hard to find the pattern but eventually got em. Water temps were real cold. Late Feb turned out great as they headed to the shallow early and we got on em in 3to 4 ft of water. I am not not retired so I fish when I can and don't care about the weather, but hate the wind!! I love the challenge of trying to find their pattern. This year may have been tough to some but everyyear has it's up's and downs. Tight lines to ya!!
Good hit in November- maybe 4 since Not good at our fishing hole

We fish once a week normally it is on Wednesday as it seams like that has been the best weather day this year. Tom and i keep a running count on clickers and been running 50 to 90 fish a trip. We only keep them if they are over 12" so normally only take home 8 to 10 fish. Have had a couple low count weeks but those were in Black Creek and we haven't got those fish figured out yet. Not used to having to figure tide into our crappie fishing. Have caught a two pounder each trip in that creek so they were good trips. Like you guys say any trip is better then work but I been retired for 7 years and tend to forget that. Don
This has been the least I have fished in probably 15 years and there have been good and bad days. We usually find some fish, but I have seen one trip where we only caught 3 fish in 2 days!! Did have one day in February where I had 147 on the clicker fishing by myself. From what I have seen and heard, it appeared to be an average year except for all the wind. Thinking about heading to Talquin tomorrow and giving it a try.
Some of the places i fish seem about the same, but i think the high water changed others by creating more area
that is unaccessable. Also more spraying this year which changes the environment both above and below the surface.
All in all i caught more fish this year so far than i did last year. I attribute that to using more rods and more minnows.
Haven't caught many this year on crescent lake, Santa Fe or Rodman.
thanks for Shareing the general thinking.
Thanks for all the info Guys ,got a little rain other day maybe get some tonight , Put some new shoes on the trailer ,Them Goodyear Endurance American Made LOL the old tires were almost 10 year old I was skeered of em ready to go get em LOL Might try the Stick Marsh ,or Pointsett , Lake Washington is SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW. RR
Had some good outings on the Stick/Farm this year, probably your best bet, but for the St. John's chain Harney south, worst in 15 yrs I can account for....IRMA flushed us clean, been to Harney about once a month to check bite with no promising reports....
thanks SpeckDetector saved me a trip to Harney at least for a while gonna stay in Melbourne area ,talked to some fellows ,Stick Marsh has slowed down also ?????
I'm done for the year ...........
Wasn't much of a year for me ..........
See ya'll in Sept/Oct, hopefully I'll be rarin to go
Tx's to the guys that took me out ..............
Hi Danny , U doing ok ,Boat running Good ?? Sure miss them cookouts at Monroe Maybe again some day .
Mornin Tom, yep they was a bit aggravating having one a month but now I miss em ......
Boat's doing fine ....
Ole lady is marginal, she just refuses to do as the Doctor orders, so keeps slipping back till she winds up back in the
hospital. Her orders now are to keep oxygen stuffed in her nose 24/7 and she refuses, plus got to take a nebulizer (mister/w/medication) and won't do that
either, so she just gets a little worse each day. I try and tell her to do this stuff but she's a lot like me = Bull-Headed etc, etc...
However, I certainly would do what the Doc says to do etc, etc, ect.....
She's alright during the day, just at night etc, etc ........ coughing/wheezing and tossing and turning, breathing hard (loses the oxygen tube almost immediately)
then spends the rest of the night keeping me awake = I wind up going in the den and sleeping on the couch etc, etc ......
If she'd just do as the Doctor says but, nooooooooo, ain't nobody gonna tell her what to do etc, etc, etc ........
Anyway there's the story (I pulled it off of U2specks thread to keep from Hi-Jacking his thread) etc ......
Guess I got to let it out sometime, is a burden on my chest/mind .......
Other than that = life is just another day.
I do have 35 tomato plants that are doing great, beans didn't do good at all, cucumbers were a flop ........
Guess I coulda got a mess of shrimp up there in oak Hill but didn't want to put up with the crowd. Lost four
anchors at RRB got to hit a nice calm day and get back up there and go swimming to retrieve them etc .....
That's about the time I just kinda lost interest in everything (fishing/shrimping) Getting off to a bad start at
the beginning of the year (blown motor) sure didn't help either ....
OK, I'm done ... See ya next year ....
Danny
Danny ,Very sorry the wife not getting any better , My Mom had the same problem and would not listen to the Doc either ///
You hang in there ,If you need anything you know how to get me. Be Praying for you and the Wife ,I will see ya next year RR
Things are WAY shallow up here. Almost as bad as last year prior to the storm. I'm guessing the launches will close soon, if they don't cut some water loose.....
Went last week for the first time since my hospital vacation, caught a bunch of dinks, jiged up 3cats, a bowfin and some warmouth .
Came home with 4, two nice specs and two warmouth. Man the lizards were thick! Must of seen a dozen, in a 3/4 mile stretch.
:fish
Danny, sorry to hear of you and your wife's troubles. Only met you the one time, but I will keep you guys in my thoughts. Look forward to catching up with you the next time.
Tom, come fall. we'll do a Monroe trip or two.
My biggest thing is my next door neighbor says he's ready to go, then at last minute
backs out = slightly upsets me = Ain't never inviting him ever again, he's done it to me tooo
many times etc, etc ..... (idiots, they're everywhere) ! ! ! !
Sorry to hear about your wife Danny. We will be at riverwood over memorial weekend. Stop by and have a cold one or two.
Speck detector I heard a few were in the deep canal between SM and FC also.
Yonder I think you are so right about Poinsett,Washington is low too.
