I had a very similar tool. The suction cup was not very reliable.
As for line twist ... the better the reel, the less line twist.
Just put the spool into a container of water when loading a reel.
Calvin, when I spool string on casting reels, I roll it off. When I spool string on spinning reels, I set the spool flat on one end and let the string come off above it. Seems to help.
I've been using this method for about twenty years:

I got one like the OP from China on eBay for $3.50. It works fine.
However I spool my spinning reels I then tie on a good ball-bearing swivel like a Sampo or something similar and add a small bullet shaped bobber and then take my rod down to my pond and cast it as far as I can. Then holding the line at the first guide putting just enough pressure to make the line lay flat, I slowly reel the bobber in. What ever twist that was in the line is now gone. When I lived in New England the fellow with whom I fished let the line trail behind the boat as we made our way to the fishing spot and then reeled it in the same way I described above.
Not bad David. I think I will build myself something similar to it. Thanks for the idea.

Here is what I will try to build today.

@ Clint. Yeah I've done that before too, and it also works.
I pull line off the spool to a pre-determined point in the front yard ...
It untwists itself, loading onto the reel every time ...regardless of which type of reel it is ...

You guys are going to make me buy one of these with your postings. The tool I been using gets kinda cranky sometimes when I use it, cause I have my wife hold the spool of line with a pencil, while I respool my reels. :Rofl
