Stren Crappie Mono is good. I've been using it for the last couple of years.

Been using Vicious Panfish hi-vis 6# test for last few years and find it to be quite a good line. It's not really "mono", but a copolymer line, which supposedly has less stretch than mono & more abrasion resistance than fluorocarbon.
I take it out and "stretch" it after it's been sitting on the reel all Winter ... tie it off and walk off 50yds and pull it taught & hold it for about 10sec, then repeat the pull/hold a second time ... cut it loose from the tied end, then reel it back on the reel between finger/thumb pressure as it drags thru the grass. This relaxes the line, plus helps take out the twists & the memory coils it gets from being wrapped on the reel for several months. I'll usually put all brand new line on my casting reels about every two years, unless I've broken off so much line that it only covers 3/4 of the reel spool ... then I'll change it out whenever that occurs.
I use Suffix on everything but my Jiggin rods. I never have a problem with the line taking a set.
I've always used Trilene XL where XL means Extra Limp. Whenever I try another brand I always end up going back to Trilene XL.
I started using the vicious 6# hi vis this year. So far I love it!

I've used and tried it all. Honestly, I prefer the braid line but it has drawbacks too. This spring, I've got 80% of my reels with Ande 6lb mono that I bought last year in Florida. The other reels have a variety of super lines in the 5lb class. I redear fish A LOT, the big ones can destroy 4lb test mono after a few fish. Your drag has to be Light!
I use 6lb mono and always try to find 5lb in the super lines.

I guess a lot of this is in the eye of the beholder type thing, but one of the best all around lines I ever used on a spinning reel was Triple Fish Rx for Spinning. Used to get it at Foutz in CG, Mo. Far as I know you can still order it online. That is how I last bought some. I only went away because I wanted a hi-vis line. I got the big spools at the time. It is a co-polymer type line and the best behaved on a reel I ever used. I think it is German but would have to check.

Clint ... I use 6# test Vicious and can cast a 1/32oz jig quite a bit farther than 20ft. I get around 40ft with a 1/16oz jig on a normal cast. Are you using a small reel ??Quote:

I found this line at Walmart for .65 a spool. I purchased all they have and have around 12 spools. I just left Academy store and found some 8 lb Gliss on clearance for $4 a spool. I'm gonna give it a try.Quote:
