Looks like a big minnow.......maybe somebody dumped some minnows out after fishing and that guy got lucky enough to grow up.
It's a Golden Shiner.
Green Carp bait😂
I agree. It’s a golden shiner. They grow pretty big when they are dumped out of a minnow bucket into a lake.

Very large crappie minnow! It's what I tip my jigs with to catch the big ones!
If you want to fish for big catfish put that on a big hook, throw it out, and wait.
Golden shiner ; we have caught them up Milford way in KS.
That’s a medium Minner at Grenada. [emoji4]

If you like to fish for bluegill in that pond it’s going to hurt that. I use to pond fish and fished a pond that had them in it. I caught as many or more shiners than I did bluegill. Once they are mature, there’s not much in a normal pond that can eat them. Most people here that put baitfish in a pond put threadfin shad in them.
Golden Shiners are also know fish egg eaters. Next time I would go with Fathead Minnows in your pond. They don’t grow as big as Golden Shiners and they aren’t known to eat fish eggs like Golden Shiners.

Fat head minnows.... That's what I was trying to think of instead of Threadfin shad. That's what people around here put in their ponds.....
Submitted properly it would be the state record, I think.
Striper bait.

Big old minnow!
bait of choice on Rodman or maybe Toho.
Large golden shiner like that are one of the best big bass bait around. we use to catch them out a neighbors pond that were 10-12 inches long and put them under a small balloon on greers. Its a shame the black salty has taken its spot at the bait shops.
Florida calls them River shiners --- Bait for Largemouth bass
