I will be fishing it the 19th for a couple of days. We already payed for the cabin. I see it is already above summer pool. Will they lower the level again? Has anybody fished it this year?
lean to take advantage of that muddy waters ability to soak up solar heat. a good sunny day will find them heading towards it. good time for safety pin spinner run threw shallows in the mid afternoon. or go catfishing. haha
yeah they will lower it back down to summer pool or below a bit if we don't get anymore rain..supposed to snow 1-3 in tomorrow night then start raining again Monday.
12.2 ft above summer pool and still rising
going to be one of those years, spring fishing is going to suck it looks like or at least early spring.
We are looking at going some where else because of the water level at Raccoon. Anybody know where we might go to catch some crappie and rent a cabin from the 19th to the 22nd around central Indiana?
Here in Indiana, I bet every resivour is going to be letting out depending on how much rain we get between now and then. Every one is also muddy. However,, we get warm weather middle of next week finally and fishing is going to cut loose finally. It’s all a guessing game to me right now as lakes are still going up as they are still holding water as rivers won’t even crest until middle to latter next week. Just get out and fish where ever. Here is your links to rivers and lakes.

Thank you guys for responding. I think we are going to stick with Raccoon Lake. it is still 13 ft above summer pool. To me, its all about water clairity. I think we will catch fish if its not very muddy. Hopefully the lake has settled a bit. I am going with an uncle, a brother and a couple of nephews so its not all about fishing if you know what I mean. I hope I stay sober enough to remember the trip. lol
I mean at the cabin after we get done fishing.
Have you looked at Shakamak ? They have cabins, also the strip pits are close. Just a thought about someplace not effected by the high water.
just drove by Raccoon this morning and water is up in the edge of the trees along road on main bridge, fishing is going to suck again this year.
The MS big 4 are still growing, getting closer to my house every day. Frosted last night.
We are going down to Raccoon tomorrow for 4 days. I will let you know how we do.
Friend of mine and his wife, hit Raccoon Creek above Mansfield Res. on the white bass run Sunday, and caught over 100 in fast and frenzy fishing. I used to get into them above Portland Mills bank fishing and so it’s on for those that fish there.
lake is still way way up, don't see how they could even fish the creek..Portland Mills ramp is closed.
my buddy owns property on the creek need to ask him if they are up by him yet.
Six guys fished 2 days and not one bite. Water was 10 ft above summer pool and very muddy. Water temp was 50 to 53. They had a crappie tournament on Raccoon today I wonder what the winning weight was. Anybody know?
Indiana Slab Masters Tourney results. And they did catch crappies! And you have to give these guys a lot of kudos as this and the Patoka tournament were held in high, muddy, debris, cold water, with wind and cold for 8 hrs of fishing. Hang in there Slab Masters as it can only get better in this screwed up Indiana weather!!! :cheers2:ThumbsUp
