man i did not see that coming, who will be the new man?
Looks like he'll have plenty of places to fish. Isnt minnesota the land of many lakes?
chris
Bad time to lose a coach. Wonder if his recruits will transfer to Minnesota with him. How many kids will rescind their signing letters. You know they can, if the coach that recruited them leaves before they get there. Like i said, BAD TIME TO LOSE A COACH. I dont care what team it is.
I couldn't be happier!!!! I'm willing to sacrifice a couple rough years if we can find a coach that can recruit some better talent. Tubby was a pretty good coach, but he really struggled recruiting and isn't an "elite" coach. I think he will do a good job for Minnesota, but wasn't the ticket for a program like Kentucky.
You have to be careful what you wish for you may get it. Minn. is glad to get him. lol
I'm glad to see him leave. Tubby Smith = boring basketball
You Cat fans have nothing to worry about, you have the BEST recruiting tool in America.....................................Ashley Judd!!!!!!!!!!:p
There is never a bad time to loose a coach that isn't getting the job done! Tubby has taken the winningest program in the NCAA & reduced it to Midmajor level. I am 49 years old and I can never remember UK being ranked in the 40's. NEVER! If some of the recrutes follow him... so be it. If they arn't any better than what he's been getting let them go. I don't think they will though. Recrutes aren't coming to UK because Tubby is there anyway. They come because of the history & tradition and they know they will get national TV exposure. :DQuote:

As a person who has worked on UK's campus for 17 years, there was an extra spring in everyones step yesterday. The question now, who will replace him?
chris
all is right with the world today so long Tubby not that he was a bad coach just not good enough u know. he won one championship with Pitino's team and i think that helped him to stay around longer than he would have. i say pay Pitino a king's ransom to get him back whatever it takes. i still say Tubby wasn't much of a recruiter to let Lofton leave the state and go to Tennessee..
Pitino must not be able to recruit either, he didn't offer Loften at Louisville. Also what has Pitino done at Louisville? My point is I think BB has much more pairity in the top 10-15 teams now then it did in the 90's, much harder to get to the final four these days.
Patino hasn't done much at Louisville?! Just moved up in confrences and made the final 4 in 3 years! As far as recruiting Loften; he had guards he needed big men.Quote:

Look what he started with. He has proven over and over that he is a winner. Anyone needs time to establish themself. Tubby was lucky enough to inherit a national championship team from Patino. Patino wasn't that lucky at UL.Quote:

Edgar Sosa is awesome as well as Character,Smith and Farley if he has a good recruiting class this year they will be hard to beat. I hope Pitino stays at Lousiville. I have never heard that Lofton or Brewer wanted to go to UL.Quote:

Florida will always be a football school. Donovan will always play second fiddle there....he could come to Kentucky and be the man so to speak. It will be interesting to see if he makes the move or not. Whoever takes the position will have a tough first year with what Tubby left them with. Unless the new coach brings some recruits with him....
I like the fact that Several of Billy the Kid's recruits say, "We'll go wherever he goes". With Morris leaving, which by the way i commend and do not blame him whatsoever, and the possibility of Jodie Meeks leaving, next years team has the potential to be very thin. Whoever comes here will basically have the key to the city, and a 30 million dollar practice facility. Plus enough pressure to perform to last a lifetime.
Chris
What's this about Jodie leaving? I haven't heard that. Sure hate to see him go he was the bright spot on the team this past season.
I was told by a reliable source that Billy bought a home in Lexington about 3 weeks ago. THis was before Tubby left. Then there were other sources saying his family was in Lexington last week. It looks like Billy is back.

i hear a offer of 3.5 a year for seven years, pretty strong.
