Not many on here that fish up that way. Maybe someone will see this and give you a heads up.
Thanks for the response

Man, for some reason Bull Shoals is hardly ever mentioned on here as has been stated before. Jackie53 is the only one I know of who's ever mentioned fishing it much, so you might send him a pm and see if he could help you. And mojorig I think is the biologist for that lake you might pm him as well and see if he could help. I think they just sank a bunch of tree tops in that lake recently and he could tell you how to find them with a gps. Wish I could help you more.
Fished Tucker Hollow area 3/25 caught 12 water 54 surface temp . Used a 12' jig pole to fish the buck brush with a 1/16 oz jig vertical. Went back 3/26 caught 1 water temp 52. Until the water temp warms a little and stays that way it will be on and off i think. They should be on the banks good by the time you arrive if we don't flood again this year.
Outstanding information guys! Thank you for the reply. Every time we get into the crappie on bull they are absolute HOGS... just got back from lake Washington in MS and was completely spoiled. Hopefully we can keep riding the wave and get a good mess of them
Talked to my brother in law who lives in Lakeview yesterday. He has been catching quite a few but not many over the 10" mark. He has been doing well on bass, and on a good note the water level is right. These rains and temp swings have been tough this year.
For numbers, I would focus on Lead Hill and above. There have been lots of reports coming from the uppermost part of Bull. The quality is currently good all over the lake. High water in Bull does wonders for the fish populations in the lake but makes it tough on the anglers.
That's actually where we are staying.... Lakeview resort. We have an annual bass tournament for the fire dept there every year. I like to spend 1 day of pre fish for crappie and the rest of the time chasing bass. However I usually give up after 2-3 hours of no bites of crappie... one of these year I'll find a spot that always holds em and hopefully fill the box
Good luck man. You on the job in St. Louis proper? I'm a retired BC from Jonesboro, Ar.
Yes sir. 10 year private in north city. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll try to post some pictures if I can find the crappie
You can catch them there . I will be there for a week april 7-14 to catch a few bass and crappie. If you are staying at lake view run to the back of howard creek or Jimmy creek where there is a little stain . That is where you will find them .
Thanks faith! I will definitely make that my first stop. Usually start off with 1/4 roadrunner and see if any is hungry. Seem to do ok with that. We will be there April 7- 13. We will be in a late 90s 20ft black charger. If u see us drop by and get a cold one from us
I messed up... we are staying at Lakewood resort off 125 not Lakeview. Don't think the boat carries enough fuel to get us that far. Lol. Thanks for the tip though brother.
I'm going to make some assumptions, but only with the intent to help you catch some crappie. Since you're a bass fisherman, I'm assuming your going to be using a roadrunner and casting the bank. If so, in my opinion a 1/4 oz is too heavy, you would have to do a pretty fast retrieve to keep from dragging the bottom the whole time unless it's deep but even then I think the fall would be too fast. I would recommend using a 1/16th and no more than a 1/8th oz jig head with a slower retrieve. And you may be using a 1/4 oz because you're using bass fishing equipment, if so I would recommend using lighter set up with around 6 lb test mono. If you're going to use a spinning reel, personally I hate mono on a spinning reel, so I use 10 or 20 lb braid, preferably superslick. Others may want to add some better advice for you as well. But if I'm correct on these assumptions, I think a few adjustments will help you catch more crappie. :twocents
I'll take all your advice in consideration and thank you for looking out. The reason I start with such a heavy bait is to cover water... with fishing the lake once a year I'm limited on time to find where the fish are holding. Once I have a general outline of the area and what the fish are doing I ususually slow down and fish that area pretty good.
I would recommend going up big creek if you are staying there some really good crappie water up there and yes lighten up your jig weight for sure.
Thanks faith.... finally got away from the wife and kids for 20 mins to locate my 1/8 and 1/16 roadrunner. The advice will be applied in a greatfull manner😉 I love fishing Big creek and have a bunch of spots I've found over the years, but unfortunately I'll be in my father-in-law boat and don't feel comfortable driving it that far.... I'll be spending most of my time in Buck, Trimble, and Seed tick. I can normally find 1 or 2 per trip in there.
