So, I'm going tomorrow for my first colonoscopy. Prep starts today. Nothing but liquid all day today and at 4 o'clock, I take an anti nausea pill. I'm supposed to wait one hour and then drink my first 16 ounces of prep liquid. The label on the pill bottle says "May cause drowsiness" . . . . . . . wait, what? Take a pill that makes you sleepy and THEN drink the poop cocktail??? :yikes. :yikes

Any "anti-nausea" med "can" cause drowsiness. When I had mine, they gave me no such "anti-nausea" medication ... so I'm not quite sure why they think you would need it (the cocktail is basically tasteless). But, even if you do take it, believe me ... after each glass of the "cocktail", you probably won't have time to get sleepy from the medication before relieving yourself of the cocktail effluence.
Yep, I just thought it was funny. I've had a lower gi before and the prep was similar. There will be no sleeping for sure.
Good Luck, Vonna. The prep is the hardest part, the actual procedure is a piece of cake. I've had two of 'em. Do it they said, it will be OK they said! Yeah right!!
Yeah ... I saw the humor in it, too. Wanna know something else, humorous .... I retired in April 2013 after 45yrs on the job. What was that job .... Registered Pharmacy Technician :yikes ... and the humorous part is -- the one thing I hate the most : taking medication :Rofl
Vonna, I just thought of a humorous event in my last one. I awoke from the anesthesia and looked at the TV screen and saw what appeared that I was driving driving through a tunnel with lights on. The nurses were talking about what they were cooking for Thanksgiving, since it was only a week away. I said "Ya'll are making me hungry". Then all of a sudden the lights in the tunnel went out!! The anesthesia guy turned off the drug too quick and the Doc wasn't through yet. Never felt a thing!!:Rofl
Walk in the park. I'd rather never have another but they beat the alternative. The wife had a bad time with the prep but I'll spare the details. Suffice to say that she was definitely ready. The hardest part is the ribbing you get from seemingly everyone that you know. Hope all is well when the doc is done.
Ask your Doctor if 182949 FOBT Occult Blood, Fecal, lA is a alternate test.
If this is possible, you can do the prep test at home, non invasive, with the lab test done elsewhere.
Just got to catch it, stab it, and return the barb to the lab.
Fecal occult blood is basically smearing a speck of stool on a card, and seeing if it turns colors. That is very different than a colonoscopy.Quote:

I take it you're quoting from somewhere? That information that is out of context, and only related because it is GI. H. Pylori primary affects upper GI and is easily treated with antibiotics. You would actually do an EGD to assess for h plyori damage, and you would see ulcerative damage and not polyps.Quote:
