Here is a "Stickie" at the top of the forum. You might find the information you need there.

Guess I should have realized that this wasn't a first, and looked around... Thanks... Maybe the better question is, what do I need? Since I have no idea what any of the materials are called, that would probably make more sense, right?
You might try sending Skip a pm. He has about everything a guy could want. Plus he will talk to you . About the only thing that is scary to most guys is how much they are willing to plunk down for a vise that they will be happy with. That's an individual thing.
Clifford, it's going to depend a lot on what kind of jig's you normally prefer to fish. Feather, hair, jigs with synthetic tails collars or chenele body. Pick a couple you like to fish with and post a couple of pictures. Then the guys can help you learn names of material, where to get it and how to tie. That way your not just out buying a bunch of stuff you won't ever use.
Take a walk through your local tackle store, not the big box chains, but your local guy. More than likely he has the supplies in stock.

I just received a small order from crazy angler and probably will be my last order from them. Buck tail broken in half, calf tail broken in half, thread not identified what color and size, but was not the color I ordered. Shipping was expensive plus they add an additional 1.00 for handling which I never heard of before when ordering supplies. Pop
When I first started and even now when I order it's not online! I do hope online and make my list of what I want, but then I call them to order. I want to talk to someone and hopefully the one that will pull my order, because I can tell him if I am buying kip tails and want longer hair, I tell him that and it usually works out well for me. I have an entire tote of kip tails (Calf) and almost every one of them has long hair!
See pics below of my kip tails and this tote is pretty large.

Skip I love that camera that you use to take pictures I'm going to have to invest and get me one. I use a Nikon or most of my pictures but they don't come up quite as clear as your especially when you are shooting pictures of the birds.

I agree with the statement of buying what you need and fish with now. Having tried the tie for a dollar thing and found it wasn't for me, I now have some stuff that will likely get little. if any. play in my jigs in the future. If I don't get off my butt and finish some projects I may never tie again, but it goes like that. It's a lot of fun and I enjoy using a hand tie but have separation issues. I hate tying one on and losing it on the first drop. I guess it's just another reason to return to the bench.
I buy most of my stuff from Nimrod's tackle. He is pretty good.
Don't use Grandpa Bob's Custom Jigs. Prices are cheap but shipping take forever. I ordered jan 16 and haven't got it yet. So I requested a refund thru Paypal. Should not take that long at all
