Not sure about anybody else but Caney was not good for me this past weekend. Caught 2 keepers all weekend fishing shallow. Hope it's better this weekend. Good luck.
I fished Caney Saturday and Saline Lake outside of Winnfield Sunday. I caught 1 small bass, 1 bream, and 1 crappie Saturday on Caney. Fished from 3 ft deep to 42 ft deep. Sunday on Saline I caught 1 bream on a jig. Fished several spawning spots and deep also.
Well i sure hope they turn on soon. I'm ready to catch some fish! [emoji226][emoji226][emoji226][emoji226]

Same here on Caney, 2 fish all weekend after about 9 hours of fishing!
We did well on D'Arbonne This past Thurs Fri N Sat! 1st time fishing the lake We brought home 129 Crappie fishing those 3 days! That's just out boat! The other boats did as good and some better!
Looks like Twenty did. But ya gotta have camo and special jigs.:biggrin
There is still alot of fish in that pre-spawn stage, sitting out in the mid-level depths. I caught all.of my fish working 12-17 fow, primarily fishing anywhere from 9ft to 11ft deep, and my go to baits for all of the trip was Mr. Crappie Bluegrass, Glimmer, and Monkey Shine. Fished single jig rigs, tipped with either minnows or crappie nibbles, hot pink or chartreuse jig heads.
The biggest thing I saw the local boats doing that were not catching fish was that they were going too slow. Several of us have found there some years of fishing experience that when that water is warming to increase your speed. My speeds ranged from 0.5-0.7 all week. Also look for these fish to be staging near stump flats that relate to the creek channels, boat lanes and any old creeks or ditches that go to more shallow and conducive spawning habitat and water depth.
Hope that helps you put a few slabs in the boat!!

fished Cypress in Benton Saturday. Caught 5, two bass, and a kittycat.
Water high. I run the boat aground all day. :dono
I brought home 25 good ones from Cypress Sat before last. I went out there this past Saturday too. Lake has dropped a bit, but still pretty stained. Caught some deep on cranks, caught some shallow on jigs. Caught three nice channel cats on a crankbait. Sunday, I hung one crappie that popped my line at the boat. That was it.
The fish should be spawning at the base of the trees on every lake in N La now. The problem is they are scattered with all the recent rain.
You have to quite literally bump them with the jig sometimes. They don't always want to get far from the nest.
I always find fish on the cypress with limbs that come low to the water in 1-4 feet of water. Let your jig down within 2-3 inches the trunk and try to go to bottom.
They usually smack it on the way down.
Went to Cypress Saturday afternoon and caught 25 dinks. Only kept 7, but got on a good size bite about 30 min before they quit. Caught them all on jigs
Only caught blacks where I normally catch all whites.
