Are you set up to longline? if so, I would be longlining flats out to 15 ft of water. If not you could try minnow/vertical jigging brush piles and blowdowns to find a fish
Yep, wear your rain gear! :biggrin just kidding, it depends on the water temp, if it is in the 50's they probably won't be up shallow yet so I would fish 10 to 15 foot of water. Look for drop offs or contour lines and brush piles.
Good luck!
Longlining is the gold standard in crappie fishing. Very good advice given. Lots of reading to get you started in search function at top of page. I think we are in a pattern right now between winter and spring where conditions change very quickly. Check messages daily and it will be a good guide to what is going on your chosen area.
Not set up for longline but will try the minnows and jigs
Thanks for the info
What lake you planning on going to?
Gacop welcome to CDC . lake blackshear is not that far from you will be there tomorrow hope the rain will not stop the bite . i will be staying at my camper at camper haven . there is good river fishing up there the lake is not that far by boat or 5 miles to the lake ramps .
They did away with all the timber
I hung out at Campers Haven when I was a teenager. I use to jump off Luther Story Bridge. Wasn't real bright back then.
my camper is across the road from the ramp it is a motor home
What's it cost to leave a camper at Campers Haven?
They took out all the timber but there is a ton of willows and other growth in there.
i didn`t get to go some thing came up but did get a report that they were biting some mostly females at smoke bridge and under some docks . hope to go Monday and stay all week . got a customer to see over there and having a windshield put in my truck at the class shop in cordeal . they should turn on when the water warms up if it does or they will still be deep water .
you have to see Pam Mullis in the area where i am that is called weekend retreat .that is part of the old Camper haven her step mother started that year ago . she owns most of that it depends where a site comes open . she onlt rents by the month and you furnish your own electricity . My electric runs around $30.. a month unless i am there running air or heat most was $60.00 . there is one about 1/2 mile from the boat ramp stays pretty empty he did charge $50.00 a month with electric and $20.00 a night when you are there . thet is Dixie RV park it is owned by Jimmy Griggs .
