I know it is a normal thing at Grenada with higher water. How about The other 3? With this level at Sardis, tactics may have to change!Attachment 292486

Wading Sardis is going to be very tough right now unless you boat or kayak to a location and get out from what I have seen!

Attachment 292785 Come on down to Barnett and do some wading. LOL
I have waded a few times at sardis....
Some good wade fishing but I've always used my boat to get to spots. They have 2 of my favorite ramps closed already and projected over 270 by this weekend.
Hurricane landing wade everything east of first ramp!!!
Wade at highway 7 bridge lake is at 7. Wade east of wyatts. Wade west of coontown. Wade east of Holliday. For that matter wade all 20 something miles of the shoreline on both sides. Your bound to catch something.
I got some waders around 6 years ago but to afraid to use them . Scared I would step in a hole or something then can't get out of them , lol .
Flench, just slide your feet as you walk. Got to feel that bottom.
I don't do it a lot but when I do, Tennis shoes, shorts, and always a life jacket.
Also, I always use a wading stick/walking stick with a rubber crutch bottom on it. Find one about 4 feet long. Once my hand starts dipping in water, I know I am getting to deep. Put a loop of leather on it for your left wrist and use it to probe ahead of you and lean on while walking. Makes all the difference.........
I can pass on a couple bits of wisdom I picked up wading. First, if you ever do step into deep water while wading, remember to stay calm. Panic kills. If you have waders with the booted feet, those boots will weigh you down some but all you have to do is lay backwards. The waders themselves will not pull you down.
Second, remember you can't swim forward to get out. The waders act like a drift sock and hold you back. Just lay back and swim feet first back to shallow water. I've stepped into two creeks wading at Long Branch, and it's worked for me both times.
Third, like Iwannafish said, always take a stick and don't get too cocky to use it. I haven't gone swimming once since I started using my Moses Staff. It's worth the hassle.
I have some questions about wade fishing not many people fish like that down here in central La. First off do you single jig close to the bank or fishing the back side of the trees you would fish from the boat? I have and I think the proper name is wax myrtle we call them button wood or buck brush that line the canal banks that we fish close to from the boat before the rain flooded everything. My thought was use the boat to get to the bank then get out and fish the backside of the brush. Just thought I'd give it a try and am open to any suggestions. Thanks
I do more wading than I care to think about, especially in the winter.
For safety and comfort reasons, I highly recommend stocking foot waders and some academy sports $20 wading boots.
Even though I don't use a wading stick normally, I do use a long wood handle net as a wading stick and net combo. I duck taped some foam noodle to it so it won't sink, and it works great.
Anything I can do to minimize bulk while wading is worthwhile. If a net can double as a wading stick, then great...more room for jigs and such!
