What are your thoughts on the SpyderLok trolling racks? I like them that they are adjustable up and down. I am looking to put some on the back and side of my boat but wonder how they do trolling from side? Any info good or bad would be appreciated very much in advance..
They do great! I pull cranks with mine from the side. I have had my spyderloks for about a year and a half and have not found anything bad about them.

I love mine use them all the time pulling planer boards. Plus Gene is a great guy and easy to deal with.
These things are excellent quality and workmanship. You can adjust anything on them to make it fit your needs no matter how you mount the plate. Easy to install and remove. Gene's great to work with.Quote:

Just got mine plus 2 millennium seats from Gene, the machining and quality are better than any other T bars I've used or seen, now if the water would go down I could try them out
just bought 4 and am really pleased with them.
I have (2) of the 4 rod holders, and (2) seats. Mr Gene is great, in many ways. Dependable, honest, and innovative!
i bought extra bases, added a 72" bar from Amazon, and pull all across the back.

Got 4 sets of 4. Can't imagine anything being any better.

I had some of the early (possibly prototypes) ones on my Ranger in 2010. Absolutely loved them! Gene was fantastic to work with and even helped me install them. Will be getting in touch with him very soon on my new boat.
Be careful....Brag on Gene too much and he will get the "Big Head"...In most cases he deserves it...He has really done allot for us...Am glad to call him a friend

I was talking about the pieces that have teeth cut into them. The new ones I just received have gone from aluminum to plastic. I was thinking yours were the same, but you might have all-aluminum. Here's a pic:

Got ya, I agree why cheap it up, id pay the extra for more durable metal gear. I wonder if the new ones cost less? Kinda doubt it.

Thanks everyone for the great reviews. Actually, the new teeth are a special blend of composit material that will outlast and out perform the old aluminum teeth. They are designed to mesh together much better than the old aluminum ones. They have a guide inside that holds them in alignment while adjusting and retightening. These composite teeth have been extensively tested and we would not have changed if they weren’t better, cost more too. Cheep plastic these aren’t. I’ve been using the prototypes for about a year now and they look and perform like new, the aluminum ones don’t. They still work, but not as good as the composite. These were made so they can be replaced if for some reason something did happen to one. I have one new set with all aluminum teeth that I was saving because the teeth aren’t being made any more. I need some to use in my work designing new products, since I can weld them. Only one I know of.
Ive had a couple people call me about them and I convinced them to try them, they did, well satisfied since they work so much better.
I have seen these new ones with the composit teeth....the composit is harder and stronger than aluminum and the teeth are smoother and mesh together a lot better. It's a good improvement.

can someone tell me what the measurements are for the base for the rod holders.
Gene, can the composite teeth replace the aluminum ones if I ever wear them out?
I have had not problems with mine and I can't find anything that I would want to change on mine. They adjust anyway you want them.
I was also surprised to see the change to the plastic material. All the pictures online showed them as being aluminum. Gene: You may want to have your resellers update the stock photos as it's a bit misleading. That said, so far I am very happy with my rod holders and plan on ordering two more. I just hope this is a replaceable part that the manufacturer will stock in the event that it's ever needed.
I have 2 with aluminum and 1 with composite teeth. Yes the composite does settle in better and tighten down complete easier. Y'all ever been riding down the road and look back and see the T bar rattling because it shook loose. I think composite heps that. IMO the only weak point is the black piece on the T bar bolt.

I have a set of each no problems. I think that in the long run if used offend the composite will be better. I do think that the bar should be wider. You could spread out better.
