Reports are starting to rumor the lakes are headed up fast and furious. It stands to reason with the Ohio River flooding. 365 would be a prespawn disasterIMO.

National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service
Noaa Tn River forecast at New Johnsonville which is basically Kentucky Lake has 363 by March 2nd. Don't know about a disaster but the lakes are going to get big and be challenging for a lot of folks to find probably as the water fluctuates.

Cumberland is 7ft above summer pool and around 20ft above what it should be at this time.
It has to be lowered and that means it's coming to Barkley.
I will be surprised if they get back to summer pool
Saw a pic of wolf Creek and a lot of water coming down. Don't get up there often and never seen lake this high. Be careful. Looks like we got almost a week s worth coming and don't need it.
Oh well, we will deal with it. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!

The 6 million dollar question, how fast will they draw it down after things calm down before the normal curve to raise it back to summer pool begins? Highly likely will or could effect the spawn. Man is it going to put the debris in the water, 8 ft plus is a lot of water. Mud and more mud out her on the Little River Area. Be safe!!
At this point, the spawn shouldn’t be affected. Too early. If we see a similar pattern in April it would very likely impact the spawn. (Exactly how it would be impacted depends on water temps, and discharge rates). Could be a good thing.
This certainly isn’t making placing fish habitat on mudflats very easy though!
Thanks for stopping in Adam and putting minds at ease before the speculation got out of hand.

Totally agree mrdux. That is the forecast and assume when they can the drop will occur almost as fast . Terrible for the spawn.
Cumberland has a,'ll turbines and flood rates open and water has risen 1.5ft in the past day
Even if it doesn't rain there will be a lot of water coming your way for weeks
Better get out there while you can still get a boat in the water, I just got another great report of a quick limit from Kentucky while I am sitting here at work.
Hopefully we won’t end up with the same deal as last year where the lake drops suddenly in mid/late April. (That almost certainly hurt the spawn a lot) It’s certainly looking like it’s going to be a wild year this year.
I talked to a lady a few hours ago at Eureka Campground, she works for the Corp of Engineers. She told me that 368-370 are the numbers being tossed around, but they're not certain. I don't know how that compares to past events, but it's bad.

I think the top top of the dam is 375.
9ft over summer pool! Wow!!

Latest forecasts say lakes may crest short of 365. Still plenty of trees and debris to keep things interesting.
