Day two with CCS students. Crappie fishing 2/22/2018
I had two more young ladies go fishing with the old Drumking today. Weather was better and the fish did a lot better for everyone than yesterday. Summer and Millie accompanied me in the G3 and we had a lot of fun fishing with floaters and jigs. A couple of quick lessons on how to cast these without too many tangles and we were all set.
We fished the same area as we did yesterday to catch most of our fish. Shallow stumps toward the back of a slough and well off the main river channel. It was warm enough to wear shorts and a tee shirt. For February, that "ain't" bad. Grin. We tried a couple more techniques just so they would have a little bit of information about how people crappie fish. Yesterday, they long line trolled all the time, so we didn't do that today. We fished docks, bridge pilings and a stump field in Harrison Bay.
We landed 7 nice keeper crappie, 2 bluegills, and 1 Blue catfish that we caught under a dock. Water temp is rising pretty quickly. We found some near 60 degrees and one of our guides said that it was 61 on back in Wolftever creek. We didn't go that far.
I think that Summer and Millie had a great time today. I know that I certainly enjoyed operating the dip net today. Lots of pics today.
