Saw a boat go airborn about 50 yards from the lauch ramp at the new campground on the south side of 43. He ignored the channel markers to cut one little corner. It was about a 14' boat with a 15hp running as fast as he could go. It's a wonder he stayed in and regained control.

Dang! The tin man did come out better. You forgot to tell us----d they catch any fish.:biggrin
From the looks of the damage locations on both, it was close to a head-on! WOW!
Two really nice trolling motors on two tore up boats. They had a couple last year on the Rez. I remember one new nitro wiped out.
Does anyone know the story behind the wreck?
Was wondering that myself, Jack.:popcorn
that will probably buff out.
i fish the rez a good bit and that doesn't surprise me at all. i never understood why some people are so irresponsible. ive seen bass boats blow under that 43 bridge at 65+ with crappie fisherman on every pilling. worked too hard for my rig to go see just how fast i can get from point a to b.
It's not just the bridge. Boats fishing in and on both sides of the channel don't slow some of em down at all.
Not trying to get a wake discussion going, just talking about high traffic in tight quarters.
I can’t understand for the life of me why that area is not a no wake zone. Not even close to that amount of boat traffic at the bridge at Pelahatchie Bay and it is idle only. In and out of Main Harbor is a no wake zone and there is hardly ever 2 boats pass each other there. But at 43....mash the gas as hard as you can. SMH!!!

I started fishing the Rez , around 50yrs ago. I have seen many boat accidents there, most of them were caused by being stupid. I have seen faces stuck thur windshields, broken arms, legs and many a torn up boat. I quit fishing it during summer. It's a dangerous lake. But I love it.
yep people now days are in such a hurry to get some where and rush so much they never see whats around them
:yikes With boats running 60 to 70 mph trying to get there first. Looking at fish sonars and phones distracting the boat drive. More people, jet skies and boats not to mention people drinking(DWI). I think more crashes will happen on the Lakes.
It will become a no wake zone, if I have anything to do with it... I will be talking it up starting tomorrow...
The more money someone Pours into a Bass boat indicates the reasoning ability of the Purchaser -- so the Dealer throws in free crash helmets and Injection seats...
Good luck on that. All them boys in the bass rockets been fighting it for years. Don’t think they will ever bow down. They have deep pockets and close ties to the powers that be.

What blows my mind is how they sink that kind of money into a boat to catch a fish that can be had in bigger and better quantities in lakes/ ponds that don't require a gas motor at all. No way I'd actually travel hours to catch one. A 10 acre private lake under management is where I would actually travel to go fish for trophy bass- NOT a 30,000 acre lake, but hey, what's that they say about having an opinion...?
A family member of mine is a b*** fisherman who just bought a new boat. All he talks about is his inability to afford the next size motor up, and his boat's inability to surpass the 65 mph milestone. There's no discussion of, "how it fishes," or, actual fishing features- ONLY how fast it'll go (or with a sad expression on his face, how fast it WON'T go).
It's just bazaar to me...perplexing at the least.
I have a question after reading this thread. WHO is supposed to POLICE these waters for safety violations on this lake since it is NOT a COE facility??
It's not just the bass boys......look at the boats some are buying to catch crappie..or cats..or bream...
Boats are like guns or cars. Use em right, No Problem. It’s the guys behind the steering wheel that makes the decisions, not the boat. My boat might run 75, but I don’t mash the gas that hard. My truck might run 100 but I don’t drive it like that.

I just never could understand why people are in such a hurry fishing. Now I might go a little faster to get there but when I’m there. I just try and enjoy myself. Guess that’s why I don’t tournament fish. Think god know one was killed

there is a reservoir police force i see them regularly but its always in the main lake and close to the yacht club, main harbor, and pelahatchti bay. i have never seen one north of the first channel marker. my boat will do 60 easy but when im around others i pay attention at keep it where i still got good control. a boat completely on top of the water won't turn.
Hopefully nobody got hurt. If there wasn't any injuries then they was blessed people.
