So I'm thinking this afternoon I'm going to start on the molds for these Guys...I like the bugs but not the colors so much
These things (on the right) are only about an inch the others at like 1 3/8"

After my mishap and posting on the wrong thread... I have the bug molds almost ready to make the second half! No dropping.. Went back to Fiba taping

The legs on the Ant looking guys gave me fits... So I left enough room on the mold, to cut my own legs
I don't see as many air pockets,
must have that consistency close to where you want it
billygee
I went back to my usual mix, But I screwed up on the injector seat on the not ant one...It's fixed now:bash
Got both tops poured and resting...

So my 1st instinct or worry was that the plaster couldn't hold the fine details was prolly correct
But I'm not giving up yet!
Going to shoot today and figure out how to fix

They are scored and the 1st shoot was super encouraging, since they haven't been sealed yet and just fish oil in the cavities the legs came close and not much flashing
I'll post up pix in a bit, after the sealer dries and I get another shoot!
Still working out some kinks....But the results are encouraging!
What do you guys think?
I'm working on the flashing around the Ants legs...On the little guys I'm working on bigger air escape channels to get those tiny little feet to fill more consistently

:biggrinNope!
Thought about it ...I did on the 1st molds I did, but have been having such good luck ...Kinda like the Fiba fuse Just fazed it out
These little bugger's are proving to be a total pain...I think I'm going to eliminate the front legs altogether, and only keep the 2 sets of hind legs and maybe fill the feet too...
Altho I should prolly drill a couple of clamping holes and clamp it

It's really tough to duplicate the fine details with plaster, even with a 2-part mold, lures that require and injection mold. But good try!

But you have given me an idea......
Other than the legs being attached using a candle flame,

I might be able to use my usual floor tile technique used to pour & cut as I do for my minnow grub:

Spoonminnow,
Thanks for the vid!
I just need to drill the bolt holes to put better pressure on the top half!
