He is very entertaining. Do you know him Shipahoy41?
Thanks for posting these. I had a guy on the TN board tell me he did not know who he was and did not need anyone to teach him how to catch crappie. Richard Gene is a treasure. Simple, down to earth approach, tempered with humility. He doesn't sell anything, and I find that refreshing. His videos are definitely worth the time spent watching.
I found his videos a few months ago. I think he has some going back to 2013, he is very informative, and down to earth, with great family values. Great viewing for sure...
Thanks Ship Really like his videos something for everyone.Even old Dogs Like us Ship.Lol

Richard gene is fun to watch. My boys especially keep up with him,but when it's too bad outside I catch up with him.
I told a story in the funny story section - ' shouldn't have ask'. If you can imagine Richard gene sitting there in that chair, you have the full picture. My fishing buddy is remarkably similar. Down to the big beat up fingers. Only difference is he is from Arkansas. Lol
He's quite informative, and entertaining
Love to watch Richard Gend, the fishin machine.

I really enjoy his videos, he tries to teach a few tricks and tips in each one. Can't wait to finally meet his (imaginary) buddy ELMO!!!!! Go fishin' when you can, 'cause its good fer you!
Thought Gene was from Alabama?

I really enjoy watching him also. I am starting to have a little trouble though, as I think he is starting to sell out to some sponsors. Hope I am wrong. Pop
Actually, I want to know what gear he uses as it has helped me in the past. I think he is just straightforward and does not hide his talents or methods. If I were in a fishing industry I would scoop him up though.

He tells what gear he is using. He has some ads in links under the video......and the more views he gets the more ads will show up in his channel......usually you can skip the ads.....but not always. I subscribe to his channel.....enjoy watching his videos. But it is not realistic to expect him not to cash in a little if his channel keeps growing. In a year and 5 months he has had over 2.3 million views for around 110 videos. He has almost 15,000 subscribers...which is not a lot. He is making a little money off of views but hard to say how much....but it is not a lot....and while I’m sure his channel will continue to grow....how far I don’t know......I don’t think he is going to ever make any substantial money. YouTube is a huge place. Millions of fishing videos. I agree he has a unique personality but one needs a whole lot of viewers to make real money on YouTube.

He doesn't have a sponsor. He's not paid to use any particular bait. He does have Mr Perry from Texas who provides him with jigs to use but I doubt any money has changed hands. He also uses brushpile jigs from up north. I think it's more of him promoing products and using the products he likes. I have a feeling there is a surprise coming though.
I subbed early on when I found him. Honest, humble, seemingly genuine man. I sincerely hope that he doesn't change a single thing. If he make a little money, that's great. I've got no idea of the amount of time and effort that is required to edit and produce a video, and I've got no issue with him being compensated for that effort.
What does "bother me," is when another channel trolls his subs begging for support for theirs nonono (same fellow has trolled this site for the same.)
Build your own... if it's "worthy," you'll grow...:twocents

What I can't understand is all the animosity toward the man. Some have a genuine disdain for Mr Gene but for the life of me I don't see why. It's not like he's promoting some sinful illegal activity. He's doing something we all love to do. He's fishing, and he's bringing us into his world and sharing with us ideas he's learned along the way.
I remember when I was a wee lad we used to stop at the bait shop/gas station/restaurant on our way to and fro where people would share ideas and stories about their adventures while fishing.
That's what I miss about fishing. The brotherhood. And it's why I enjoy Mr Gene.
It's weird how much times have changed. I guess it's the one thing I'll never get used too.
Don’t know how it came across otherwise...
I’m Richards biggest fan!

Sorry. I didn't mean to imply you.
My apologies!
I wasn't talking about you.
I just meant in general.
There's just a consensus of hate for the man that confuses me.
Again I apologize if you thought I was implying anything.
(Edit)
Sorry I see what I did. I pressed the quote button by mistake.
He's a breath of fresh air in the Youtube fishing community, a stark contrast to the fast-paced green carp videos from young guys that seem to dominate.
Just a wise man sharing his experience, I could watch the videos all day.
Peelin' drag is another good one if you like a lot of multi-species fishing.
Pole bender and realistic fishing are decent ones too.
Catfish and carp is cool. It's about a man and his little boys fishing.
