Cumberland has risen 8ft in 48hrs and there's a lot more coming
220K+ flow with 40 degree water temps makes even the nicest days later this week a futile effort.
What's the app called you all use?
The MS. Big 4 are busting out. 8-15' and rising.
Gives me time to work on my boat some more if it will quit raining.
Lots of water heading downriver at my house.
OK, Cumberland Lake & Barkley Lake fans ... here's what's coming your way :

Cumberland at summer pool in February???
Looks like I'll be better off building more stake beds the next few days off.
I fished at Danville yesterday (Tennessee River, Kentucky Lake). Muddy water, lots of current. The state runs a ferry at Danville, the amount of current in the main channel from 240,000 CFS was amazing. Normally the ferry goes back and forth between the two landings. Yesterday, the current would move the ferry 200 yards north before he could cross the main channel.
Be careful as well, full size trees headed north, along with lots of other floating objects.
Fished ledges near the mouth of Big Sandy Tuesday afternoon for 3 hrs. Just as I motored under the Paris Landing bridge, my boat jumped North about 10ft from strong current surging around piers. That should have been an omen! Once up in the Sandy, the water color was stained, but fishable. However, the water was being pulled out of the Sandy. Wind at 10 and strong current was tough on the bite... at least for me... 5 keepers and 10 dinks with one 13 in. fish and 4 under 11 in... 2 of the fish were fat and looked healthy. The rest of catch were skinny and no bait fish in their bellies.
Cumberland is above tree line ,still rising
Kentucky/Barkley on their way up now. I haven't been out but I got a picture from a friend last night rubbing it in because I am working of 40 nice fish from Kentucky Lake, didn't have to measure many of them.

Water above tree line and wind blowing hard enough to have white caps in a minnow bucket. Temp is really good...hope to get on Cumberland this week.
4+inches of rain predicted in the next 7 days, Cumberland will be unfishable for weeks
Seems to be raining all over. A lot of lakes that I have fished in the past are at summer pool or higher already. Was hoping for a good spring but water levels may be problematic for awhile. I agree that Cumberland is going to be a real mess for a couple of weeks...maybe it will settle down by March.
They're calling for 6-8 more inches out here in the far west of the state. Along with the water that's already in the Tennessee and Cumberland River systems, KY and Barkley should be high and muddy for a while.
Yep, everything that come into Cumberland ends up in Barkley
With that amount of rain in w.Ky means Cumberland has to hold water until other lakes begin to Drop
CUMBERLAND is still risig 1/2 in per hour
Cumberland has stabilized! Just in time for tomorrow's rain
Green is 6.5ft over Summer Pool
Taylorsville is 7.5ft over Summer Pool
Cave Run is 10ft over Summer Pool
And it's 78deg in Lexington ... and the Garter Snakes are crawling everywhere. :yikes And it's still FEBRUARY !!
And more rain coming!
Flood gates opened on Cumberland, hopefully they can get it down to summer pool
I went to Fishing Creek yesterday. Water had cleared up some, water temp went from 55-57 while I was there. Caught 14, kept 7 for supper. Ranged from 10.5 to 12.5". Male--female was 50-50. Don't know how the rain last night and today will impact fishing creek. I saw this morning where they had opened the gates. Hope to get back out tomorrow and/or Monday.
Taylorsville Lake ... currently 23ft over Summer Pool & rising :bash

I've only been fishing 3 times since fall and it's killing me. I was contemplating on heading down to cumberland tomorrow or Tuesday but wasn't sure how the fish would be biting. I know the water level is very high but I've never fished it at that level. Any insight on the clarity of the water and where one might begin the search?
Spent the weekend in Louisville, and there is quite a bit of water headed this way. We all know that the cumberland and the Ohio rivers will affect us in different ways, and we can't forget about all the water south of us coming north.
Right now we just need a tall order of sunshine, warmer weather to help us with all of this aqua! Catching a few fish wouldn't hurt also!!

The Ohio River has taken over downtown Louisville this weekend.
Cumberland is up 1.5-2' since I was there last Friday. Water is over the lower parking area at Fishing Creek Rec Area. (Don't know why pic is sideways)
