Rickie
Rickie, send me 1 and I'll be glad to let you know about that. :Rofl
Hey, Rickie! I contacted Humminbird about this and here is the scoop:
The upgrade xducer for this unit is a XTM 9 WIDE DI 20T
The part # is 710235-1
The rep says it has a wider cone, a lower profile to prevent snagging and will be advantage to drop-shot, jigging and I would expect it would be good for spider rigging and power trolling in deeper water. jmo
If you decide to upgrade, she says include a note with Ref # 101012678.
This is straight form the "Bird's mouth"!
Rickie, you better archive this 'cause I sho ain't gonna remember it!!
Cray, you were right about this.
The difference in cost is $30 + tax, and I'm assuming AL sales tax.
Agreed.
I asked our favorite ace CRC gal about the new XI 9 1521 Chirp low Q iceducer (130-250kHz) and if a S/W update would be done for the H7DIG2N.
I could then use it double duty on the ice and the boat when the new S/W version is complete...
I'm hopeful, but wanna see some menu selections me'sef too!~!
rickie ,I have a helix 9 di but it do not have 83 on it,wish it did,i thought all had that,if it would be what you want to know on that unit ,I could look
Rickie, I will have my new Helix 7 DI from Brian on Monday or Tuesday. That is the first thing I'll check when I hook it up and I will let you know.
rickie,i know you are wanting to know about 7 but I went to see if mine had setting for 83 with 200 and it does like you said, mine came with sonar 200 and 455 so now I will have to get a 200 and 83 ducer,do not know the purpose of 455 on sonar:dono, maybe it elimate a pizzo?
Narrower 2D cone on 455 kHz Gene, better resolution/separation at the cost of not as much bottom coverage.
I love that fishing it tight quarters with other fisherman close, especially on steep drops it shines.
83 is 60 degrees and 455 is 16 degrees.
@ Armyman:
Looking forward to see what you find, and PLEASE update to the latest software version - because of the many added features and fixes!
I would be very interested to see if the XI 9 1521 Iceducer has also been added to the transducer selection menu as well!
sfw1960, I will post my findings on the Helix 7. Do you think there would be new software versions on a new unit?
Absolutely.
They released v1.610 for the larger Helix units around the 2nd & 3rd weeks of JAN. for the Helix 9-10-12 and ONIX/SOLIX platforms.
Plus I was told by a very sharp CSR they were adding the low Q Chirp ice XDCR to the Helix 7's and I have to think that IF it's not been added yet, it would be quite shortly as she's an awful sharp person.
I specifically asked this question so if I got a H7DIG2N I could use it year 'round - otherwise I would have to get a plain Sonar GPS G2N and network the imaging from the other machines on the boat.
Thanks for the info, Robert.
TY for your help too.
Rickie,
The answer to your question is yes it is listed. Here is a picture I took today from my 7 DI unit I bought about a month ago
I haven't used the di transducer yet that came with this unit. Can I trade it in for the new one just released? Really would like to see how it separates fish better from the bottom. So far I'm only using my 7 di for mapping but have it linked to my Helix 10 mega.
:ThumbsUp
It's my understanding you will NOT be able to use that with the Mega DI XDCR because it has more wiring (circuits) than a standard DI XDCR.
I was hoping to see if there was the option for the XI 9 1521 Iceducer listed as well.
If you can pipe the DI from your Helix 10 Mega, it's all good unless you want the best DI possible @ the trolling motor...
I think I got them all. May have deleted one photo, oops. Hope this is what you were looking for, let me know if you need anything else.
not listed
You're on v1.540, there's probably an update that adds new features and fixes, unless your unit hasn't gotten v 1.610 yet - which may change those options.
Thanks Roy ...
If (and when) you update to 1.610 can you check if there are new selections in the "Connected Transducer" Menu ...??
Rickie
Looks like the one I left out was the DI 83/200 that I posted eairler. I will do the update and see what changes.
