What is the status on them in Sardis upper lake ?
Hopefully there are not any in any of our lakes! I had a guy try and tell me he saw some in grenada and I just hope he was wrong!
Sent from my iPhone using Crappie.com
They are in Grenada and Enid spillways for sure.
inevitable
They are in Sardis lower lake, Had one jump over boat. Don't think they in main lake! YET
Most likely they are. Bait caught in the spillway, not inspected and used on the upper lakes. Not used and thrown overboard.
And Nero fiddled.....
Does anyone know if they can swim up stream through the spillway like salmon do?
Don't think they can....no fish ladders like they have for salmon in salmon waters
They can come over the weir at Sardis lower lake if water level is right.
Agree , can't swim up the outlet tunnel.
No, not likely they can .... they mainly get into lakes through the locks, when the boats/barges are locking thru. Or, as "canebreaker" says, when they're caught/netted and transported by those thinking they are "Shad" ... which the juvenile Asian Carp look very similar to :

Hate reading about these invaders.
Dang that bighead carp looks like a Shad!!!! Scary just a matter of time before they are everywhere. Sad sad sad situation hope God has a good plan for something good to come of the carp dilemma!!!!
If you have ever tried to catch them in a bunch of nets, you would know that they can do just about any maneuver. The average Mississippi channel flow is about 7 mph; they swim that very easily. If the MDWF would ever do a DNA sample on the upper lake waters, they would probably conclude that they are in there. Keep an eye on Pickwick Lake. They are there, just haven't increased in number yet to be a problem. Their DNA has been found in Guntersville.
It's just a matter of time.
BTW, I have a few nets for sale! LOL!
