I bought a pair of Lacrosse boots last fall, worked great just pull them on and you are set. When it got colder I kept them on and fished with them also.

I do my best to not get wet!
X2 on the Muck boots. My Oregon buddies wear them so I bought a pair. When it is cold weather, they stay in my car. I put them on if I'm by myself. Got tired of Flying Squirrel leaps from the bow of the boat to the back of the car, often ending up with a shoe full of water. The Mucks slip on an off easily and are good to about 10" of water.
Hot weather, I bought a pair of leather fishing sandals and just wade in or out.
Muck boots for me too.
Muck boots, I think I see a trend!

My son moved to Montana in 2012, then on to Maine in 2015. He sold me on what to wear!
Muck boots are in my truck most all the time. They slip on, and off, very easily, and are very warm if its cold.
Amazon, or Zappo's, I think the pair I have will outlive me!
The wife bought me a pair of Muck Waterfowler boots a few years back and i can't say enough good about them.
Mucks are second to none.
Muck boots for me also.
I found mine a couple of weeks before Christmas last year for $50 off at Academy Sports. Wife wanted to know what to get me...no brainer for $79. She got off cheap too.
My kids love their Muck boots

Used to buy cheapo rubber boots. I wear them often around my land. They would last me at most 6 months. Wife got me a pair of muck boots. They lasted me about 7 years before i tore them up in a briar patch. Still work in up to about 6 inches of water....then it gets cold quick

Lacrosse and they last forever. If super cold, I stick a set of thermacell pro flex liners that are battery operated and have spare sets of batteries with me. With the phone app, I can turn the heat on and adjust it or shut them off when too warm.
I just let the tailgate down on my truck before I back in. I step up on the tire and over in the back of the truck, on to the tailgate and over on the bow of the boat and reverse the process when I load it. No wet feet.

Muck boots and Lacrosse
I use a rope tied to front of boat and then hitch of truck. Back the boat in and let it gently float off trailer then slowly pull back of vehicle out of the water. Then put a couple of trailer walk plates bolted to trailer and walk on them to boat. Works great for a old geezer like me.

I don’t get my feet wet no matter what shoes/boots I am wearing. Boots definitely when launching in the spring on muddy ramps to river launch and take them off and change to not track mud in the boat.
After seeing this thread I feel vindicated.I had an audience the other night watching the "wheel well to bumper to trailer tongue move" on suburban with bon voyage tag line allowing boat to float out to end of trailer. I cuss my welder every time, extended tongue on bay boat, can't get in for extension on "little boat". Waiting for warmer water before attempting "flying squirrel"(classic) move. Got great reviews on "Suburban Spiderman" for an old fart. Thought I was a loner in this field.

I wear work boots 90% of the time and mine are waterproof. That said, I've never been much of a rubber boot fan (outside of hip boots). This year, I was tired of walking through slimy mud and boots getting wet (while hunting). I purchased a set of Artic Pro muck boots and could not be happier. Ended up selling my dad and my buddy on them as well. I do everything in them outside in the winter and could not be happier. 8mm thick with a 5m bed and 2m not removable bed. Don't be confused with the Artic sport as they have less insulation.
For summer, I will be purchasing a pair of non insulated to keep in the truck. Most places I go use a dock, but, I still have to get on the trailer. I'm not getting any younger and I have less mobility every year. Only a matter of time before I take the plunge while trying to get on the trailer!
Also, we purchased the grip tape and I have my tounge all the way to the wheel wells on both sides with this stuff. Amazing how I no longer have to hang on to something for fear of slipping!
muck boots as well
Better have your PFD on when wearing boots. You AIN'T gonna pull boots off trying to tread water or swim. They suck down against your legs with pressure. Take it from one who's been there.
I agree with that. I am 68 and still get around good for my age but I know it is coming. When it does, I'll go back to using a rope tied to the trailer and the boat. Let it float off the trailer and ease up until I can get the rope and pull it to the bank.
I am sure a lot of my procedures will change over the next 10-15 years....lol...
My neighbor I carry with me some is 85 and can not go by himself. I carry a step stool so he can get in before we launch. I don't know anyone around me that will do all that for me when I get that old.
I watched a guy in a 18’ v aluminum fishing rig right after he loaded his boat driving it on his trailer, up on the front. Got on his knees to attach his winch Hook, summersalt off the front of the bow and land in 2-3ft of water on his back. Man did he get up like a Polaris Missle out of that cold water and jump back to the ramp. Granted, it was funny, but reminded me due to my age to be careful when I sometimes do that myself to attach my winch cable to the front eye of the boat. It happens so fast sometimes. :Rofl
I can unload without getting in the boat, back boat in and tie to dock with long ropes. Back boat in and it will stay put unless the wind is kicking up. Have done this a few times with no issues. Thinking a bungie type rope would be better for this.
One thing that I have is an automatic latch on my trailer. I pull up on the trailer and it latches automatically, so I don't have to stand on my head to latch it. When I launch, I back in until the back floats and get in and pull a rope that releases the boat. It is really handy for an old man.
After reading and posting in this thread and thinking about everything I go thru to launch and take out boat as I primarily fish by myself. I am going to install a set of bunk pads on my bunks for easier unloading and loading of my Jon boat. Read the reviews on this product and you don’t have to back as deeply in the water to launch or load. I think it will be a lot easier also. Going to find out anyhow and hopefully not have to get wet launching.

if you get the pads just remember to keep the winch strap bucked until trailer is in the water. Also if you have a friend helping, caution them. I had one "help out" by undoing my winch strap without me knowing. I sat that one on the ground before I got to the ramp. Next case, my buddy was backing me down and for whatever reason, hit the brakes. That one sat down on the ramp.
I can see BillBob doing that to me when we fish together. He does have a roller trailer too. :cheers2
