What you looking for ? 2 stroke or 4 stroke ? I used to buy my 2 stroke at wally world using their brand as long as it certified TCW3. I just bought 2 yamaha oil change kits for new 4 stroke off Amazon but got 50 bucks off for applying for their credit card .
Use a quality oil. Walmart Super Tech is cheap but you will pay big time later.
Wal Mart oil is certified . I just got rid of a 2008 Yamaha two stroke 70 all I used in it . Doubt many run one more hours . Guy checked compression before buying and it was perfect .:twocents I know others that used it for years with old motors still running fine too . I was told just make sure oil you use has the certification TCW3 for two strokes. Don't think they make one for four strokes without buying name brands .
I used to run the wally world tcw3 in my old Johnson 150hp 2 stroke, it was 8 years old when i got rid o fit and it was still running strong, My new 175 merc pro xs required a specific oil, and it is expensive. DFI oil by the bulk is about 38.00 a gallon. over 40.00 from retail stores.
I agree that if it is certified TCW3 then it's TCW3 certified just the same as anybody else's. You've got to realize that Walmart doesn't manufacture their oil someone else does and that someone else is Shell Oil. Neither does Mercury manufacture Quicksilver someone else does. Basically all oil is manufactured by 2 or 3 refineries no matter who's name is on it. Some may add additives such as detergents ect to make the claim that theirs is better but Shell oil is the same as Supertech.:twocents
I agree with nimrod, I run supertech in my merc 25hp and have never had a issue with it! Have had the motor for 10 years now and supertech is all I have ever ran in it!
Man I can't complain at all about Walmarts oil. I have a Toyota Prius with 250000 mile on it thats never had anything but the cheapest oil I could buy. Super Tech oil is all I ever buy no matter what it's going in. All of my vehicles have only used Super Tech oil and have never gotten rid of one because of it smoking or engine problems.
