I was wondering what the lake looked like.
Thanks for the update.
You're welcome. Needed to get rid of some cabin fever so took a ride to check out the local lakes.
Got the first launch of the season done here today.:biggrin Water temp was 42-46. The seven crappie that we caught were in 20-25 fow near the bottom.
Today's water temp was 46-48 degrees. Muddy from North Beach to the campground area. Stained water from North Beach to the dam area. Plenty of wind. Saw seven deer, one groundhog, two eagles, & a half-dozen squirrels. No crappie.
That sounds tough. I'm supposed to go there tomorrow but maybe we need a plan B.
We were planning on going to Rocky Fork tomorrow until we listened to the weather forecast. Too much wind for us. Our plan B was Paint Creek (more places to get out of the wind) but a friend of ours went by there this evening and the ramps were still closed.
Thanks for the heads up.
I'm going to check out the weather forecast in the morning for the wind.
Not really many options down here. I went up to Cowan yesterday walked around a bit, it was pretty stained. EF is dropping about 2' per day and still up about 6' and looks pretty stained too. CC is up and falling and Ohio River is still up and falling quick. Only thing about Rocky & Cowan is they have spillways so they can't flood too bad.
That wind forecast for today is brutal....I feel a change in plans coming our way.
NO CRAPPIE IN ROCKY ---MAX
head south fast nothing happening but wasting time on lake
heading out today should be great with warmer water temps
Had a buddy fish RF yesterday & he didn't do any good casting but did catch 17 keepers trolling.
Still a 2 pole limit. It would surprise me if it ever changed but ya never know.
We caught plenty of fish shallow last week and we even had a few decent ones in the mix. Seemed like a bunch of fish are still holding out a little deeper.
Lots of folks out enjoying RF today. Water temp went from 63 deg. to 67 on the dam end & to 70 on the campground end of the lake. Caught 38 & kept 22 to eat.

Got out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon. Caught a mixed bag of crappie, bluegill, perch, white bass, largemouth, & a few small saugeye. Hot & windy with an 80 degree water temp. Kept 12 nice crappie to eat.
I've been trying to get back to RF they last few weeks but the physical therapy from the knee surgery is eating up way too much time. I was hoping to make it next week but it's not looking good.
I want to try for some perch one day at least for a little while.
Thanks for the report
Hope you are doing ok Cmax.
Drove over to Rocky Fork this afternoon. North Shore boat ramp was iced over. The entire cove was iced up.
Barely any ice at all on rocky yesterday, north shore cove had just a tad and it was prolly 1/8 and easily broken
