Yup and very much success at times. My preferred method single poling, then slow rolling followed by dipping.
It works great!
Dipping along the bullrushes or corn, smallest cork that will float a 1/32 or 1/48 jig. Dip, give it a 1/4 min, move over a couple feet, repeat.....

I love float fishing a marabou jig when I'm fishing pads or trash piles 12 ft. Deep or less.

All the above. Tiny jigs and tiny floats and 1/16 jigs and a stick cork. Have done it a bunch at times and it's an absolute ball. Just a note though. When a crappie hits, the float will only bounce once, that was the jig hitting the back of his throat. Set the hook. After one good trip it will be in your bag of tricks from then on.
It’s one of my favorites. Crappie always seem to get aggressive with this fishing style. I’ll rip it let it set for a few seconds and rip it again. Normally right after you rip it and the bobber comes back up you will notice it bounce pretty hard and fish on . I prefer the 3/4 in round foam bobbers attachéd only by one end.

Up around the brush and reeds real shallow, like a foot deep. When you figure out the depth over some snaggy stuff it helps keep from getting hung up. Yes, right now would be a good start.
One of my favorites
I love it too! It's a great way to cover some water. I like the jig/float combo over a straight jig when casting up next to cover because it allows me to keep the jig suspended in/near the cover I'm trying to target. I don't have to steadily retrieve the jig to keep it from sinking and hanging up. I can let it sit there and work it slowly in the "fish zone" longer than I could without the float.
one of crappie guru's on T hill does that from high up on rip rap, keeps popping it closer to bank than anyone else on bank and that's where most fish from but farther out over brushpiles.
He is one of the best on that lake and it works.

Check out crappie magnet site and their infomercial videos. Those baits and Baits are what really got me into crappie Fishing. They have jigs baits and bobbers. Also the trout sizes work well when there are picky. I also use their bobbers with other baits too
I bought a dozen 3/4" foam floats to give it a try this spring.
I have been fishing with guys for which it is their preferred technique. I have always preferred cast and retrieve because I like the feel of the fish inhaling the jig. Last year however I fished a few spots that were just tangles of roots and debris that I got hung up constantly in.
I like to run a double rig with the 3/4 in bobbers. 2 1/16oz jigs about 12-16 inches apart.Quote:
