I have the motor, electronics, lights, bilge, livewell pumps, and air pump for minnow bucket running off the cranking battery. Thinking of adding another battery in back so one can run air pump, and crank motor, other just for electronics, livewell, and lights. Will add 2 bank charger. Thoughts or tips?

I run all that off of my cranking battery. Never had a problem.

I have 4 batteries. 2 up front and 2 in the back. I run 1 marine cranking battery for the big motor. 1 marine deep cycle for bilge,lights,aerator thru a fused bus barn. Up front I have the trolling motor on a deep cycle and with such a short run of wire the battery seems to last longer on a full charge.. I have a 12v auto battery for my electronics to eliminate any interference.The 2 up front also help with my boat planing faster. I haven't had any problem with vibration effecting the front 2 batteries.Just my:twocents
G- I have had a problem getting the battery to last a Day if I keep electronics on all day. Had to get a jump last fall. Hate to get stuck in a bad situation if it happens and nobody around!Quote:

2 deep cycle batteries under the console powers the TM. The Hbird 999si will drain the battery if you run it all day.
I carry a booster pack from wmart cost about the same as a battery and has a compressor and a light.
You can charge a starting battery from a deep cycle battery, Takes a while
I run 5, 3 for the troller and 2 big deep cycle batts for the cranking and electronics and yes I have had to jump off after pulling cranks for 10 hours straight. My rule of thumb is to use the biggest battery you can fit, you will never be sad because you have too much juice.
I turn my electronics at my console off when i shut the outboard down...then when i am fishing and use the electronics on the bow....and i have my live well on a timer.....and i have a bigger cranking battery than most have. I have two group 31 deep cycle batterys for trolling motor that i could jump off of if need be.....but never had to.

That's exactly the same set up I have and I also turn my electronics at the console off when not in use. I also do not run my live well, even on timer, until it starts to get crowded.Quote:

On the the older humminbird you have to have both units on I believe to see the way points on the console unit at the bow.That is unless you have transferred the with a card,then it wouldn't matter.At least that's what I have heard.Quote:

If room for an extra battery is a problem, I would suggest getting a perko switch that has an extra lead and a Jump position coming off of it. All you have to do then is turn the switch to jump and transfer all of your cranking and electronics stuff to one of your existing Trolling batteries to start your engine and run the electronics. After starting the engine, I switch mine back to the Run position on the Perko to charge the cranking battery up some while running. That’s how all of the Ranger Glass Boats are setup now. If you have room, just run another battery parallel with the cranker and that should keep you going all day.Quote:

A single bank will charge two batterys in parallel...it just takes twice as long.

Run everything but your electronics off the trolling batteries. Problem solved. Use the battery that the neg.to the troller connects to.
