I'm seeing some other states already planning their spring events. Any word on the Green River event? Several of us down this way are planning on being there again this year but we need a heads-up so we can book a cabin and get our work schedules marked.

It's usually planned concerning Easter This year Easter comes early, the first day of April. April fool's day. So that should not be a problem

Apr 28th is our date .... considering that many of our members will be fishing in the CUSA tourneys the first three weekends of April and the first weekend in May.
Unfortunately though, there's a 90% chance that Chucky will not be attending (due to his ongoing health problems). We are already in the process of getting replacement cooks. I will be working with Chucky, starting this weekend, to work out the remaining transfer of duties & appropriations.
That's all I know to tell you at this point in time.

I have got some guys that will help cook, has the shelter been reserved or basement of the new lodge? With all the folks we have attend everyone pitch in and it will be fine.:highfive As usual I will have my cleaning crew gettin it. :biggrin
Holmes Bend Marina has cabins, camping and lodge rooms. There all on the property of all the festivities.Quote:

How long one books lodging will depend on how long they want to stay, or are able to stay. I believe the Holmes Bend cabins/lodge have a 2 night minimum stay ... but, I don't know for sure, yet. I still have to consult with Chucky on the details and possibly get him to talk to Holmes Bend on our behalf.
Lodge rates are posted on the Holmes Bend Marina website, along with their contact info. They have 2 & 3 bedroom cabins, Lodge rooms, and one room sleeper cabins for rent. The Holmes Bend Campground is a separately owned/operated entity, so campsite reservations must be done through them, not the Marina. The picnic shelter is run by the COE, and its rental has to be done through them (which I'm taking care of).

So I suspect anyone cooking for the Fling should bring at least an equal capacity of cookers, oil, alum pans, fish coating, etc. (I will try and get Chucky to give me a list of the amounts of those things, along with his recipe for the fish coating he uses) We may have to have our volunteers to sign up for some of those things ... since these items can be costly if provided by only one or two people, especially the oil !!

Pappy there are a few of the local guys here told me they will help cook. Each of them probably bring their own cooker, wont hurt to have a plenty to many.
If I can get off work, I'll come down with my kids and gallons of oil.

Thanks, Dave ... I'll keep that in mind. Gotta find out who the cook(s) will be, and what equipment they have, first. I just know how much Chucky had, and the sizes he used to fry in (4 turkey fryers), so I'm using that as a baseline. I also have the recipe/ingredients list that Chucky uses to coat the fish, and will make that available to the cook(s) if they want it.Quote:

Holmes Bend still has several 2br & 3br cabins available for that weekend, and currently all the Lodge rooms are available.
There is a 2 night minimum stay requirement for Cabins & Lodge Rooms.
My gang will be lodging in Cabin #12 .... across the road from the Lodge. IF Red190 smokes Boston Butts for Fri night's dinner, then it will be held at Cabin #12 for those that wish to attend. I listed it on the announcement notice as the "Meet & Greet Dinner".
But, as always, things are subject to change .... right up to the last minute. So, keep your eyes on this forum for further info and/or changes as we approach the event deadline.
West Ky is booked for a 3 bedroom cabin at Holmes Bend for 27th and 28th ...
