Kid's home!
Had a few hours to kill today and was in the Miami area so we decided to swing by ponderosa. Fished for about 3 hours and caught probably 15 between 2 of us and only had one keeper. All were caught about 12-15ft with very little movement.
Fished Saturday and Sunday at a friends dock on Elk River, ended with limits both days.
Fish where from 18 to 24 feet down.

Good to see a GOOD report from Grand. It’s been beyond tough for me this year!
The bite has been crazy light for me the last few weeks. If I had not been paying 100% attention to the end of my rod I wouldn't have caught a fraction of the fish I have. Like they are just barely putting it in their mouths, kind of weird.
Kirby, did you use jigs or minnows?
What's a minnow? Just kidding, all on woodpecker panfish assassins.
Man.. this board is quiet this year. I finally went a couple times. Nothing happening in my dock. Should be soon. It’s sure been tough.
I've been going down some, its really been hit or miss. Been fishing a lot on the Neosho river arm out of my jet boat. Basically just watching the side image, I look for bigger fish near shad balls and start casting. Its been 50/50 whether it's crappie or white bass.
Thanks Kirby. I haven’t been out on the lake. Just docks. This weather though..
Caught a half dozen in about 15 minutes yesterday evening before the rain hit. When it started pouring, you couldn't buy a bite. No idea why. Fishing in a dock, 10-15 ft down in around 20 FOW. Red/White fat plastic jig and grey ghost style hand tie. Bigger jig profile meant bigger fish yesterday but with the rain and cooler temps this week, I'm sure that will be out the window for a little bit.
Oh, and all these fish were swollen up like toads with all the baitfish in their bellies. Wish I would've gotten there earlier!
Hey guys, I'm from MO, my wife and I are going to spend the week of April 23rd on Grand Lake. We are staying at Lakside Retreat, not far from the dam. I'm looking for any advice on finding crappie you guys are willing to give me. Thanks in advance!

I don't fish it much but I'm sure there will be some guys who will way in and give you some tips, but if not here is a few places you can go to get some good info. Jeff Williams from FleFly has a lot info out there on you tube and at his facebook page I think Grand is his home lake.

Cold and rainy on Friday evening but caught more then than I did yesterday evening! Bite was almost non-existent in the dock. Might have to do with the rising water?
Found some nice ones on Grand today, ended with 1 shy of a limit because I lost count. Fish where sitting at 10 to 20 in 30 feet fow. They liked to have the bait moving over sitting still vertical. Best colors were red/chartreuse Panfish Assassins and Monkey Milk Bobby Garlands.
Caught a dozen on Friday and Saturday out of the dock. Fish were scattered from 10-30 ft deep in 20-30 FOW. Caught on BGBS in various colors and hand tied jigs in various colors. Not much rhyme or reason just had to be present to win.
Been catching a lot of fish waaay up the Neosho River arm. Casting corks set at about 2 feet deep, limiting out about every trip. Monkey Milk or similar colors have been the ones to use.
Finally I can post a good report. Got our limit from 1-4 pm then they stopped. 20 fow 15 ft deep. Caught some real slabs. Let 6 big ol black females go back to spawn. Monkey milk and mayfly bg
Glad you got things going your way Grandpaw!

Been fishing hard the last few days. Catching some 14 inch, but still in 15 fow. Sloow presentation. Monkey milk and blk/chart. Letting the big girls swim and keeping 11-12 inches for dinner. Let at least 8 big black females go spawn.
I love those black crappie! Been a slow bite, but at least catching some.
Thanks for the reports Grandgpaw! I haven't been able to get down lately, hopefully that changes and I can get down this weekend and give it a shot.
You haven’t missed a lot Kirby. If we could get a few nice days, it should be much better. Hope you get a chance to get out.
Fished a private dock yesterday evening for a few mins and caught a 12 in female that was just starting to get full of eggs. Caught at 8-9 ft deep in about 15 ft of water.

Hey fellow crappie fisherman, my wife and I are staying on Grand Lake from 4-23 till 4-27 for our 10yr anniversary, we are bringing our boat and will be staying at Laketime Retreat, pretty close to the dam. Do any of you have any advice for us?? We usually cast and retrieve, as well as vertical jig. Also, I can't seem to find the length limits and daily limits for Grand, does anyone know what they are? Thanks in advance!
10" min. 15 per day each fisherman.
Any new reports? I'm going to be there next week, Monday-Friday from central MO.

Two weeks ago. 51 keepers between 5 family members. Brushed up private dock. They was 10 feet deep. Most caught on 1/32 solid purple hair jigs. Boys used minnows.

Been catching them in a private dock. 10-20 ft down over and in brush. They seemed to prefer wild colors yesterday but natural colors the day before. Take both. Females have eggs that are all over the place in development. C'mon warm nights!
Caught about 10 yesterday afternoon. Fishing was super slow and fish were scattered. 15-25 FOW anywhere from on the bottom to 5 foot off the bottom. They liked black/chart hand tie and an old pearl tube jig. Fish are probably more confused than a mule staring at a new gate.
My brother in law said he caught his limit wed,Thurs, and Fri. night on black and chart after work in 2 FOW on Grand. Not sure where but he usually fishes Monkey island
It's been like that quite a bit at Carl Blackwell. Last night, five of the big fish that I got did not give it the slightest bump. If I hadn't been "swimming" it, I'd never have known that a fish had taken the jig. A couple of the fish came on a panfish assassin, but most were on a brown/orange hair jig and a beaver bottom.
Caught 20 yesterday evening from a dock on the north end. Mostly caught on minnows (insert gasp here) and 5-10 ft in 15 FOW. Some action on black/chart jigs too. It's about to bust loose gents!
Headed out there tomorrow after work for some night fishing from a dock in Duck Creek, then looking for Sandies Sat morning.
