If it an inflatable you had better put it on over everthing else. If you wear it under a jacket that zipped up and it inflates the pressure could smother you.

I wear a Mustang Survival Elite. I was 320 pounds.....but have lost down to 275....still lot more to lose. I had to buy the extender belt for that type of PFD. I no longer need it but at the time it would just barely buckle over a summer shirt without the extender......and would not buckle at all with a jacket on. Quite a few places carry those extender belts.Quote:

Contrary to urban myths they don’t fail. You hear a lot of stories from Uncle Joe 3 states over that some 3rd cousins didn’t work when he fell in. This technology has been around for years. They are much more comfortable than old style PFD. The non-hydrostatic models are subject to go off in rain...or if left in a locker and humidity can sometimes set them off. But one should go with what they feel is best for them.Quote:
