We do have a FF board, but I'd guess most people FF for bluegill rather than crappie.

I like to do it ever once in awhile during the spawn but that's about it.
That is my favorite time to get out with the fly rod. I use these lil minnow flys that i make myself and they work like magic. Perfect for catching them susspended off a point as well

What size do you like to tie for crappies and what type of pattern?

I have good luck with a 1/80 chartreuse deer hair jig, some with a squirrel tail clouser with bead chain eyes.
I also use those for eyes. They are much cheaper and work just as good. Ive never used any dyed deer hair i might have to try that out. Thanks

A #6 Clouser with 1/60oz dumbbell eyes will do the job on a mess of Spring crappie.
It's way more fun than winching them in with a spinning rig.
I tied 1/32oz for Kurt. Everything I tie for myself is for dipping so they are 1/8 and 3/16. Here is the ones Kurt ordered.

CDC app, Thanks Speck
when they get shallow in the spring its about all I use anymore. mostly catch and release...standard olive wooly bugger but Ill tie em in other typical Truman color...chart/blue/black, etc. caught my personal best Truman 15 1/2" crappie as well as a ton of huge carp, bass etc.
9' 5wt can be a little light at times but for crappie its great. I hunt fish and shoot all over the place, but this is one of my greatest joys....little overcast, water in 60's, watching that bugger slink over cover in a foot or 2 of water is mesmerizing...
