I think feeshrman. Fishes there on miss board. Pm him
I read on another site yesterday that Asian Carp had been recently found on Pickwick. I sure hope that's not true.
Game warden told me yes!!!!!!!!
Yes I've heard the Asian's was there that's my home lake so this isn't good news.
I wonder if the TVA has any plan to try and slow down their movement? I don't know if there is any way to slow them down but if there is, I hope they try it. If they're in Pickwick, they'll be in Guntersville soon enough.
The only state or federal agency that I know working on it is the kentucky dept of fish/wildlife. The only solution so far is netting but the price per pound is too low for our commercial fisherman to pursue them. Go to the kentucky page and search Asian carp. I’ve trolled through schools of Asian carp for a thousand yards without running out of them on the fish finder. I fish from the Ky dam to well below big sandy yearly.
We need to start eating them:

Only problem with that is it takes about 20# to get a pound of meat from what I hear!
Yep, but when you have an endless supply of 20 pound fish.

Carp sells for $4.00 a pound.
Seems like a lot of trouble to clean. I think I would put them in the garden. Bet they would grow some big tomatoes .

Couple fish markets in Vicksburg, MS sell out daily. https://www.facebook.com/JerrysFishm...00282503366869
Our commercial netters on KyLake say the price they get has to be 15 cents a pound in the rough to make it worth their time. Sounds to me like the only person making any $$ is the guy with a knife in his hand.

I’ve served it at both our KY C.com events and while it isn’t sauger or crappie, I’ll take it over catfish any day.

I've never tried it, but most say it's on par with or better than farmed raised Catfish. If that's true a commercial fishery may be the only way to control they, :twocents

The twra probably stocked them if they are still as messed up as they used to be. They seined all the big sauger below nickajack dam and stocked them in other lakes riuned that fishery. Brought in coyotes for fox hunters though they deny it and ruined several lakes by stocking stripers
I saw them seining sauger from below Nickajack dam. Asked the biologist what they were doing and he told us they were taking them to a hatchery to get the eggs to stock other lakes. This was twenty yrs ago fishing declined from that point on.
I was told by a biologist and friend that the reason the sauger almost disappeared was the warm winters we had for years. He said they need cold wether to spawn. The reason they are coming back is do to 2010- 2013 cold winters. Looks like they will be able too spawn the year as Well. He said the perch are the same way.
