What are some good rods for mainly throwing road runners?
I mainly want something that I can get a good distance with and will be primarily fishing out of a boat.
Any suggestions are appreciated.:help

Where did you get the 6 and a half footer? All I've seen online are 9 to 12 ft rods.

6 to 8 ft southern crappie rods are excellent choices.
My bad.......its a 7 ft. rod click here https://www.bnmpoles.com/collections...oducts/shss72n and I am using a BnM Pro Staff spinning reel model pro 100...click here https://www.bnmpoles.com/collections...roducts/pro100 Its a great combo for casting Road Runners and then counting down and retrieving.
I have a 6.5 ft. Wally Marshal spinning rod paired with a Shimano reel that has the trigger on the bail, which helps in casting. I love it for casting jigs or road runners.
Thanks
What model shimano reel? Il

I don't remember, but it has a casting trigger on the bail so that I can cast with just one hand.

I have found the rods that work best for Me is also what is the best for shooting Docks. Instead of the Road Runner just a small light Weight Jig
Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2, 6.5'. Toss with a 10/2 braid with the reel of your choice. Skip's lightweight road runners go the distance.
I use the 7' Sam Heaton with a Shimano Spirex 1000. I love the Spirex reels, but will try a Syncopate next as they are half the price. I did end up with one Spirex that had an odd 'catch' to it, so I now try them in the store before I pick one out.
I used to use a 7' Bionic Blade IM8 - Shimano Spirex 2000 - PowerPro 10/2 hi-vis braid.
Now I just use my regular jig casting / dock shooting outfit ... 6'6" ESP PowerLite Rod - Shimano Stratus STX20 - 6lb test hi-vis Vicious Panfish copolymer line. But, if that's already got a jig on it, I will go to my 6' Ardent rod/reel combo outfit - 6lb test hi-vis Vicious Panfish copoly line.
Thank you for all of the suggestions.
Much appreciated.
I've tried em all and always go back to the zebco 2020 reel and bought a cheap casting rod from bass pro. It's yellow and works well throwing a 1/16 jig for me.

Expensive or cheap is not the question, it's the skill of the operator and you sir, have it mastered.

Check Walmart too if you want to get a close look at them. The 3 stores nearest me have them all the time. They have the Sam Heaton 7, 10 and 11 footers.
