How do I set up my c.com account so it WONT send a email every time some one replies to a thread a posted on?? Thanks in advance!!!
If you're talking about personal email notifications from the site ...
Are you subscribed to that forum, all forums ?? If so, you'd have to go into your profile and unsubscribing to those forums.
If you're talking about the C.c app program sending you text notifications on your phone, you'd have to go into the settings of that app and turn off each specific designation ... or turn the whole notifications program off.
I get a email from crappie.com every time some replies to a thread I posted on .
OK, then try this :
Top of the page to the right .... click on "Settings".
Then on the left side of the page that pops up (your profile) look for "General Settings" & click on that.
Then scroll down the page that pops up and look for "Default Thread Subscription Mode" and click on the down arrow in the box and choose "Do Not Subscribe".
And if you're receiving emails about PM's ... scroll on down that page and look for "Email Notifications of New Private Messages" and click on the "don't receive" circle. Unless, of course, you want to keep receiving emails about PM's.
I'm a SuperMod, so there may be a chance that our profile menu choices are slightly different. So if these instructions don't describe what you see on your profile ... let me know what it does say, and I'll walk you thru it. If that fails, we'll get Slab to go into your profile and fix it.
Thanks Pappy , I'll try that and let you know .
Ok. Mine was already set for do not subscribe. Looks like the only email setting I have turned on is special emails from moderators. However, anytime I post or comment on a thread I get a email saying that someone has subscribed.
Default subscription mode, open and unsubscribe. That should take care of it. This is under settings right below emails from moderators.
:scratchhead:dono
I'll get Slab to take a look.
I looked at your profile. Everything was turned off except one. IT was for pop up notifications though, not emails. I turned it off anyway. Not sure why it's acting the way it is. See if the one option I changed helped (I doubt it). Otherwise I could always simply remove your email address and then there'd be no way you get emails. IF that's the only thing that fixes it, maybe we just create another account for you and ditch the current one that has the issue.
Thanks Slab !! And everybody else that helped !! Let's try what you did first . Appreciate it .
I know this is an old thread but I wanted to see if there is a trick to getting emails sent whenever anyone posts in a forum thread I'm subscribed to. Same question for private messages. I've enabled both settings, but never receive the email. I think you mentioned certain email providers may filter those out -- I use gmail so figure they'd have their act together or I'd at least find the item in my spam folder but no such messages. Mainly wondering if there is a trick people have found to get this working in 2024.
Similarly I was hoping to see a red dot in the crappie.com app whenever I receive a private message, but no such dot. I have allow notifications turned on and this is on an Apple iPhone using Crappie.com app.
I quit getting emails about private messages for some reason also. I know i didn't change any settings myself as i dont even see that as an option in the crappie.com app.

I checked your profile and your settings are correct. And since you're using Gmail I'd think they would go through. Maybe check your spam folder. Also, check other folders, gmail will categorize emails into other folders too like social media, and forums. You might could create a filter to make crappie.com emails important, or put it in it's own folder. Maybe I try that to see how it works. we see
Hold the fort, I found a problem. There's a "bad SPF record" error message in one of the emails to myself from crappie.com which I just noticed. I'll have to fix this, gimme a day or two please and we should be good. Thanks for asking.
The SPF record has been corrected, so emails may start working soon. Stuff has to propagate over the Internet, and then might start flowing. But, and this is a big but, I may have to implement a couple other things, one of which is new for 2024, DKIM and DMARC. So I's still working on it. we will see
OK, still not working. Implementing DKIM today. Wish me luck.
Good luck! :ThumbsUp
Good luck and thanks for taking a look! I know some folks rely on the email notification to particular threads or posts to remind them to visit the site and reply.
It just might be workin', everything I see says it does. Had to implement two new DNS thingamabobs to make crappie.com emails work with google accounts, DKIM and DMARC. yay. My buddy Adam helps tremendously. Dang it's good to have friends, especially ones that are tech savvy.
Great! Hopefully they start working again on my end, I unfortunately left some people hanging for a couple days because i didnt know I had a message! Sorry!

I got the email, thanks! It was in Spam so reported not spam and think if enough Gmail users report not spam it may help.
I then when I created a filter with that message and checked the box to never send such messages to Spam. Note: the filter defaults to messages from [email protected] but I read online I can change that filter when creating it to just @crappie.com to make sure all messages from that domain aren't filtered.
Awesome. That’s great. Thanks for the update.

And yes, check your spam folders for crappie.com emails, and check off that they are "not spam". Then our reputation should improve so that it's not flagged as spam in the future.
They are working for me now, with gmail.
