I REALLY HATE those things! I never see them until I’m within 2 ft of them!
I hope everyone is okay and you killed it
Holy crap!!! What's that nasty thing doing out in November?
It's warm down here, Speck! They're confused! Next week will put 'em their holes though!

Prescribe that sucker some bird shot, heavy 7 shot, 22, 9mm, .40 or just a plain ole shovel will work, lol whatever it takes show them they ain't welcome! I'm still seeing the occasional mosquito in the woods, as well as bee's, wasp, and flies. And don't get me started on them dang ladybugs, frost don't seem to bother them critters a bit :yikes
Good eyes and lucky.:yikes
Plenty warm and copperheads are known for it this time of the year. Been out here 13 years and this is the first one I have seen up at the house, seen some on the lower side of the yard close to the pasture and pond. Took a shovel to him and he weren't none too groggy either!
Dang. That's something your just not looking for this time of year. He's camo'd up good too!

Several years ago I found a live baby snake in my yard in January don't know what kind it was as it was only 10 to 12 inches long.
Only good snake is a dead snake! Glad you got him before he got you Mr. John!

Got a half fiest half weenie dog and she is tuff on em but she wasn't outside, she has killed several down by the pasture. Up around the house aint good.
Stepped on a cottonmouth few years back in Dec musket hunting for deer, he hit my boot, he fell prey to a 45 cal musket ball!
Glad you were lucky John. As far a the weather goes, we were duck hunting one year and breaking ice going to the blind. We turned around and a snake stuck his head up through a hole in the ice we had made with our foot. He wasn't in very good shape. He was waving his head around like a cobra and snake charmer. I guess we stepped on him and woke him up. #6 magnum dispatched him pretty quick.
Don’t like them critters st all!

A friend called yesterday, he moved his lawn tractor out to change blades and belts. It was late tuesday when he moved it so he started on it wednesday. Laying on the ground removing the belt and pins before pulling the deck out. Had 2 copperheads under the deck. He let me know since I'll be changing the transmission in mine.
Get some snake repellant at co op spread it out they wont come around.I had a problem with copperheads and a rattler, put some stuff out and haven't seen one since
I got a call a few years ago from a guy who had just killed a large copperhead and wanted me to mount it. He went into his grandmother's kitchen and got a Tupperware cake carrier and had his grandmother bring it it my shop. She had some errands to run before she brought it. It was in her back seat. She brought it in while my wife was here. I opened the carrier to lay it out on my work table. When I opened the carrier, the snake threw its head back to strike! Needless to say we weren't very happy about that. A few days in the freezer took care of it. I think the guy had to buy his grandmother a new cake carrier.
I getting ready to mount a 67" timber rattler that was shot in December while a guy was squirrel hunting, He nearly sat on it! I dressed it and my family enjoyed the meat.
Dang Dux!!! That’ll increase the pucker factor by a multiple of 1000

I've seen snakes in the middle of winter time fishing ponds. They come out and get sun. I just about stepped on a big cotton mouth 3 weeks ago hiking. They don't scare me much but I sure hate about stepping on one!!!!!
