Is there anybody seeing this activity on Barkley as well? I would like to know the difference in Asian carp density between the two lakes. Seems to me that the fish (crappie) on Barkley are healthier than Ky Lake.
Any one seeing this as well...

The carp are a lot thicker than that on Barkley in quite a few areas and have been for some time. You can't see anything but carp in alot of places when you scan, but you can still catch limits of nice fish in the same areas.

Just another perspective....I have caught the devil out of yellow bass when my screen was looking like this. They were thick as fleas ALL summer long. That and whites mixed in are all I fished all summer. When we tossed a Steel Shad bladebait out, let it sink and then a steady pull up as high as you could yank it off the bottom....WHAM, a yellow, white or another species. We snagged a few asians too but LOTS of stripes. In the bottom right corner are what I think are feeding whites and yellows.

This pic is from October and I do believe this to be asian carp . Our lines were jumping from dragging cranks thru this.

Asians or bait fish?

I agree with Bigbaddad, when my screen looks like that I can only fish one pole and can’t get it down to where the crappie are at because the stripes are so thick.

And still no one has thought to use a micro vue camera to be sure of what they see down there. I use one for ice fishing and it works great to tell me what those red lines on my flasher are. I’ll bring mine down in the spring when I come but will somebody, anybody get one and use it and stop all this guessing.
Yep, pretty much all speculation based on sonar/software. Now when you idle back onto a flat or hump on Barkley and see images like some of Rickie's thick with the long streaks you won't need a camera, just a helmet because it won't take a long for the silvers to show themselves.

IMHO I think that is mostly asian fry. But it has shad and game fish too. On the bottom and on your bottom pic all the way to the right are feeding fish which I believe are crops. There are so many of these scenarios that I just fish thru them. Sept and early Oct. I caught crappie, LM, yellows, sauger etc fishing in these areas. After that it turned to mostly just whites and yellows because water temp drop. On a side note....I caught more carp than ever this year. Mirror, common and of course asians....in the mouth.....Long nosed gar were ferocious for a couple weeks also.
You can see it on your locator as you lower it down to the level that the fish are holding. On clear lakes I can see over twenty feet away. Not all lakes are that clear tho. With as many fish that are shown in these pics, if you lower the camera down in the school, you'll definitely be able to see what they are. Even in dingy water as they swim right up to the camera lens as they swim by. Kentucky lake was the clearest I've ever seen it this fall.
I fished Sledd today and it looked full of carp out on the flat.
Was messing around on another forum and saw Kdfwr have just used gill nets to check similar sonar images recently. Results were pretty surprising, the video is on there Facebook page. I know not everyone on here trusts them but I do and believe they are out trying to do their best. I am not getting all wound up on this again and don't like Facebook but urge everyone to check out what Paul and the guys have going on. Thanks again Chaunc for your level headed approach.

Man, some really nice information/display shots. Just wish we could get an update on the overall fish population by volume/mass, (best estimate by species) of what now is in the system from our DNR or somebody who knows how to measure this. I'm afraid we will look up one day soon and find that 60-80% of the volume/mass of fish in the lakes are these dang carp if something does not change. Wish I knew what this number is now. I know there are a pile of them in there now. The lakes are big, and can support a lot of fish, even these carp. Just hope the majority are sport fish or catfish.
Saw the same on my down and side imaging in Jonathan creek yesterday, looked back at some older pictures and it looked like the same thing was happening dec 5 last year

KDFWR video that is very similar to our screen shots. https://www.facebook.com/westerndist...1205399207967/
Rickie, I believe if you will scroll through their videos on their fb page you will see the results of their netting.

I tried Rickie but don't think it will work, originally thought you meant 2017 regular fall survey results. The results of the sonar images/gill nets similar to this discussion are on there. I tried to summarize it but ran out of time to edit it and have ran out of energy to do it tonight, hopefully somebody fixes you up.
