Since I’ve been painting my own jigs, I’ve started to notice that car makers have been coming out with a lot of great colors.
One of the colors I’ve been seeing is a candy apple with gold flake or glitter.
Has anyone made a color like this or know of a place to buy it in 2oz sizes?
Take a look at ProTec Disco color's. I really like them.
TJ’’s Flash Yellow (Antifreeze) is close to what I’’ve been looking for. As far as disco colors go, something between disco green and disco lime.
Some of those types of colors seem to be a fairly rough finish. If you clear coat over it, does it diminish the effects? But wouldn’t that mean 3 heat/dip/bake cycles? Ugh!

Looks like candy Chartruse might work for you. The diso color's do have a bit of rough finish but haven't seen the need to clear. Only takes one heat to coat then bake. I actually talked to them about making it in a disco yellow Chartruse but was told it wasn't on their list for this's year.
You might want to check Rosie's powder coating and look at some of their candy color's.
The disco finish is equal to taking something, covering it in glue, and rolling it in glitter. The glitter is on the outside of the jig so to speak.
If you are looking for more of a candy color with a gliter flake to it, your best bet would be to purchase "high heat" glitter and mix it in with candy paint to produce more of a car like glitter effect. This would ensure your glitter is under the candy coating and not over the top of it. I suggest playing with a few different glitter colors as they have different effects after being covered.
Try the above. I'll bet it gives you what you are looking for. Start your tests with light glitter mixed in and move up from there. You can always add but never subtract! When I make (or made) custom colors, I did them in little Dixie cups until I found the right recipe. Then I scaled them up to my fluid beds.
