I agree 100%.
The definition of fun varies for folks. I'm happy just being on the water. A cooler full of slabs is just the icing on the cake, no matter how I catch them. Feeling the thump is fun, but so is dragging in a hoss on 100' of line while two or three other rods are skint back. Basically, I like to fish.
Amen.

Some part their hair on the right....some on the left....some no part just straight back. Some drive chevys...some fords....some dodges. Some fish many different ways.....its all good. Just enjoy life and make friends not enemys.

Thump is fun but I like watching that slip bobber.
Love the thump. Also Love cranks, bobbers and spinners. Crappie, bluegill, large mouth, small mouth, walleye, northern pike, carp, gar, rock bass. Heck, up here we even catch smelt through the ice. It's all good.
I like it all. I usually go out prepared to fish two ways, trolling and one-poling. Here in Florida you kinda have to stand to one-pole the pads and get the THUMP, but the problem is, I can't stand for a long time. My back gets to killing me. So I am very thankful to be able to sit and troll for my crappie too.
I have the same problem Ed but my boat has seats from which I one pole it. lol and a Happy Thanksgiving.

I like it all. Even the days on light bites where only the end eye moves or twitches to thump to casting to dancing corks or spider rigging even dynamite. Not really dynamite But wanted to bring in a lil humor
We are also blessed to know the skill and joy of fishing
Peace and blessings

Well, I know I can sit while one-poling. But when I'm in the pads I feel I have to stand to make sure to hit the holes and not get snagged up. I use a 14 ft pole and I need the height to see the stems of the pads. You hook into one of those and you can either break off, or disturb your spot moving over to your snagged jig.
Got it Boss just picking a bit. I don’t think I have enough counter weight to handle any thing longer than 10.

My favorite "thump" is the sound after I unhook one and he lands in the live well.

Thumps are good when their done right when a thump is done take it out of the water and the first site of that sucker will make your taste buds dance sometimes you'll get goosebumps on your goosebumps it takes skill and a lot of practice to get a thump done right tho.
