I second that! I love my spyder loks! They are very versatile and very sturdy! Easy and quick to adjust! Cant say enough good about them. Plus Mr. Gene (EZpoleholder) is a great guy to deal with.

X3!!!! I've got 4 sets of the 4-rod spyderlok's, and they are the cat's meow!
Quality product for a more than fair price, and from a quality guy! Mr Gene Johnson!

If you want one style to do it all then you will like spyderloks. They are very good. Singles like driftmaster crappie stalkers or titelok widow makers are better for spider rigging in my opinion but you can't pull with them.

Thanks for all the replies and looks like a unanimous decision. I will give him a call
I prefer the Hi-tek style rod holder system, myself. Basically because I don't like grabbing for the rod and having my hand/wrist poked by the forked tines of some of the other style rod holder systems. I've never owned anything but Hi-tek rod holders, but I have fished from other boats with the forked tines style holders. My current setup works very well for me, but if it was a matter of adjusting the height of the crossbar ... I could always go to the Cumberland Crappie 360 model Rod Holder (which has an adjustable height T bar & similar style holders).
Any setup that has a bolt head or knob protruding up in the "saddle" (between the loop the handle end rests in & the notch where the front end of the handle lays) or forked tines is not going to get used by me. I don't need any "knuckle busters" or hand/wrist "pokers" delaying me from grabbing the rod as quickly as I can, especially if I have to grab the handle from that "saddle" area or past the U or V shaped tines.
I did add "knobs" to my setup, so that I'd be able to adjust the holders without the use of any tool. I don't Spider Rig often, but mainly Push jigs/cranks. And I use varying lengths of rods, so I do change the angle of the holders on occasion ... and those knobs allow me to do that by hand, on the fly. If I had it to do over again, I would consider the longer style knob that comes on the Spyderlocks ... but, as it is, mine work fine for their purpose.
Here's my setup (for clarification) :

Now, this is just MY opinion, based on my experiences, and not a promotion or condemnation or any product.
Hi Teks work great!
I also prefer the HiTeks.
Just replaced my hitecks with spyderloks and I think they are the best made for spider rigging. I still have 4 sets of hitecks on my boat and they will be changed out to.
Spiderlok hands down

I prefer the Hi Tec style of holder for spider rigging, very easy to grab the rod out of the holder.
Uh roh! Ford vs Chevy question. Many good quality products out there. I prefer HiTeks. They work very well. Solid as a rock. Scott customized mine for the T-lock cap rail system on my War Eagle making them more versatile without drilling holes.
Shop around and consider the attributes of each.
Perotti Bilt is another good one. Brad is a great guy to work with and has custom built stuff to fit my needs.

Getting more diversified in the answers, and since I've never done any of the types of fishing that I'm asking about I'm relying on you guys to help me find the one style of rod holders that will work for it all.
Let me also throw this in the mix. I own a semi trailer repair shop. The vast majority of the trailer work we do involves uses aluminum. We work with it every day. I'm a tinkerer by nature and have most of the machinery to build whatever I want to. I do not have a milling machine or lathe though.
Decisions, decisions....
Well I know my Perotti Built rod holders will stand up to just about anything. I use them to catfish on the river as well with no problems yet.

Perotti Built is not as main stream as spider loks but if you get to talking to some of the crappie masters guys they know what they are. Not saying spider loks are not just as good. They both are great holders and I don't think you could go wrong with buying either of them.

as you can see there are many different kinds of rod holders out there and fans of every type. I know I've tried 3 different ones before I settled on Hi-Tek. The others weren't bad, but they each had something I didn't care for and if the Hi-tek didn't meet what I wanted I'd be on my 4th set, but so far I'm happy. It's a shame you can't try several different ones before you buy, it can get expensive.
That looks good, but if they are biting good, too many rods and too much work..

Another thing I like about the Hi-Teks are they have a lower profile with less clutter and your vision is less obstructed when motoring across the lake.Had mine for years and they work flawlessly.
Good point Rdrunner. I don't like anything in my field of view. I always take my front seat down before running from one place to another.
That's why I like the Elites for up front, pull back and they lay right down. Helps for trolling motor use also.
