We just got an air fryer a couple weeks ago. Have only fried chicken in ours so far. I was surprised at how good it really was. The only draw back is it had spots where it didn't brown the flour. Just spray those spots with a little olive oil 2 or 3 minutes before done. My wife was gonna fry crappie in it a few days ago and I wouldn't let her..... didn't seem right.
The one draw back to it is, it cooks fairly small portions at a time. I think it held 4 thighs. I'm guessing it might cook about 6 crappie fillets at a time. I can eat twice that. Lol. But that's about all a fry daddy will cook at once as well. Who knows.
so with an air fryer it would cook 6-8 fillets in about....what, about 5 min? :scratchhead
I think it said 4 to 6 minutes.
If I could come up with another rack that would be awesome. Would be able to double up.
can't even imagine how they would taste without using oil....(dried out?)
thanks for the replies Chad :popcorn
As far as the fish being dried out.... I'm going to say, probably not. Unless you really leave them in there a while. The yard bird was cooked at 500° for 13ish minutes.... very crispy and juicy. At that temp, I think it sealed in the moisture.
I have that exact air fryer and love it. I have never tried doing fish but have done a lot of other things and it has always been very good. Most things i think come out as good as a deep fryer because it gets the crispy texture without ever being soggy.

If it works it's a easier way.
If it ain't cooked in oil it's baked. It might as well be cooked in the oven.
Too long in the air fryer and you could wind up with crappie jerky...:yikes
I want to buy one, but I am waiting on a report on fish.
My cousin has one and he bought some accessory racks that were offered by the company. He did probably 50 bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños at a get-together we had in October and they were great! At that time, he had only had it a short time and had not done a lot with it. I was impressed with the food, but cleaning those little round wire racks weren't gonna be too fun!
We have had our air fryer for a couple of months also. With the burner on top, I tease the wife that’s it’s a broiler with a big fan blowing down on the food to be cooked. Works great on frozen burgers, sausage patties, brauts, French fries, potatoe patties, bacon, chicken wings, chicken, we did rib eye steaks, but prefer grilling them over charcoal or wood. Even quick hotdogs and pop the buns in for a minute. Cornish hens work great. Grilled cheese and grilled ham/cheese, Ruben sandwiches are really good. Be sure to extra butter your bread. You can cook, about any thing in it. I haven’t tried Crappie as I just don’t know and like mine baked or deep fried. One thing we found we didn’t care for was fresh cut French frys,,,they were pretty tasteless and I love mine fried in peanut oil. Let me know how the crappies work out as we are continually experimenting with ours.
