Big fish day @ LP 11 12 17 (warning lots of pics!)

Trolling shallow ~12 to 14 FOW. Water temp dropped to 66*F, crawled back to 66.4*F @0930. Lots of boat traffic and tubers - word must have got out..... Nothing small today. Still using chub belly spinners tipped with crickets, 2lb test, and JDM gear.
Forgot my camera - had to use the cell - hate when I do that!

Congrats on a great day on the water and thanks for sharing lots of pics. I noticed the cutting mat that you showed in your post... I have a couple of those in my workshop for various cutting projects.
Do you carry one of these mats on your boat... or were those pics showing the mat taken at your cleaning station at home?? What a great idea to have one on the boat too.
They're washable, durable and a very handy foundation for cutting too. It would have never occurred to me before I saw your post. Thanks for sharing.

thnx reh - these are 1.5lb to 1.75lb. class Redear. They are eating baitfish (shad & shiners) and crawdads in 12 to 16 FOW. Other side of the lake they are catching RE in 21 to 30 FOW a dropshot nightcrawler rig or Carolina rig.

Got the idea from a fellow angler on anther web site. Lady friend had one laying around - still had the wrapper on - so I commandeered it. The other guy has something similar - different manufacturer (I think) and his is black.

I keep it on the boat now. All the fish that I photo are released - unless they are gut hooked. We have a slot limit on the boat. I'd be starving right now - have to let everything go because they are too big, LOL.

The mat is an awesome idea for the boat. Make a good background for a fillet board too. Hate the advertising and info - just need the measurements..

Beautiful, beautiful fish. I admire the skill you have in consistently catching the big ones and the dedication you have in keeping the trophy fishery going. You are definitely in a special place at a special time.
