You got a good pic of it !
Some kind of tracking collar. Have seen similar years ago when they transplanted some elk into SE Oklahoma. Probably part of some research project.
Conservation Dept. I read something about tracking collared deer so they could track movement. They also said if you shoot it to just please turn the collar back in to them.

Pretty neat. Thanks for sharing.
Let the little feller grow up.
Bill, with that one on your ankle, the two of you can be twins-ies!
heck shoot em ...he'll just get run over on the highway eventually anyway LOL...that really ain't all that funny. Looks like a slaughterhouse sometimes on stretches of road.
Kill em before the horns get big enough to stick through the radiator.I've hit two bucks in the last five years....and I was trying real hard not to...man they just pop out of nowhere...hardly had time to hit the brakes...had to take out one real nice 10 pointer or hit a family head on or drive off an embankment.
Out and about today, strolled past my stand. Still has his bling on.
That’s so cool

Here are some others from the cam
the first one looks like a shooter .
This guy fell in love with my decoy - look to the left (I guess bottom left since iPhones post sideways)
I wish I could post a video from my phone. Twice he touched his nose to the decoy and then he was breaking sticks with his antlers also pawing the ground. All for naught, she was not interested.
Wednesday morning, I walked out to find something blew up my archery target in the back yard. I know it was standing at 8:00 the night before and there was no wind that night. I’d like to put an arrow through the culprit.Attachment 279697

Even collared deer need love! Think the other deer make fun of him ot he’s cool like Flavor Flav!
Back tonight
One of my buddies in Montana worked for Fish and Game many years ago. They put collars on a lot of deer, including a MONSTER muley. His collar was green with white triangles. The muley bedded in a jumbled rock pile on a mountain top. My buddy told one of our other buddies right where to find the big buck. He put the sneak on the bedding site, trying to not "click" a rock. He got right on top of the old boy. It jumped up right in front of him. He whipped up his gun, seeing only some green with white triangles through his scope. One bounce, and the old boy was over the rock lip and gone. A lot of people hunted him for several years, but he died of natural causes, with the collar still on his neck.
