Hahahahahahahahaa! What do you do with it way up there?????
Lol, bet the corp guys are glad your enjoying it. Took a lot of time, effort and engineering genius to put that plan into action. Enid and Butla's turned out good, ain't seen the one at Grenada yet. Wondered this summer if that was all they was to it? Guess the channel is to narrow maybe to add the rest. Scared she get washed thru the gates in the current, or a drunk might just come in hot and take it and himself clean out who knows :dono
Guess it won’t ever get wore out, from use!

Carl, if you got a good running start you could probably make it.
Nice seat to sit on and eat some Vienna sausages and drink an RC cola.
150’ feet out of the water and 0 in it. High dollar Yard Art!!!!![emoji31]

What lake is that?
Sardis, that's the don't give a crap design, who cares if its usable!!!!!:bash
Grenada is good to go down to about 198 I think, shallow but you can nose up to it and use it at 198.
we are the government, we are here to help!!!!
Dock was installed early this spring and was installed to the water level at the time. It was heavily utilized all summer with no complaints. It will be extended this winter as the water drops down. Lots of good suggestions on here, feel free to send some of them to the Corps Facebook pages or websites. Also, there are ample opportunities to volunteer your time around all 4 of the N Miss lakes where some of your ideas and innovations could be heard.
Will additional docking not be installed the same, allowed to float with the conditions, water down or water up.
It was complained about, with mass boats trying to use the ramp in hi volume times it took up a lane and most of the time 2 lanes on the ramp with boats tied to it or people using it from the lake. I do not gripe about the COE much but the word "engineers" is in the name!!! Why was it not put between the 2 ramps??? Would have been a little more work to do but in the long run could have been way more usable, just a thought.
I'll volunteer my time to build condos on habitat day.
Sardis seems to have a problem with mismanagement of sorts in my opinion. Examples the boat ramp built on the river at Highway 7. State park road, in some areas the huge potholes, washouts and vegetation growing over the road is a hazard to say the least, the dock (other 3 lakes got there's complete the 1st go around). Also, this past winter me and canebreaker volunteered to work the COE habitat day, that started off to be prime example of mismanagement with the announcement coming in way late and then picked on the exact day Grenada had announced there date weeks prior. So the turn out suffered big time due to that fact, only cane an older man from Senatobia I believe and myself showed up. They had a trailer full of stakes most of which were cut in half to make more 3 footers instead of proper 6 foot stakes. We also spoke to a local man who lives close to Holiday Lodge, he was told the week prior to habitat day he could not volunteer to cut the marked trees on Corp property, instead of taking free labor they choose to pay and sub the work out to contractors. All of the rangers we worked with that day were super nice and worked their tales off, for that I commend them.
They don't really need one there anyway or at least shouldn't be the priority in my opinion. That ramp is protected from the wind and waves. Holiday Lodge!!!!!!!!!! Or better yet, build a new ramp at Pine Point!!!!!! Or just add them at all the main ramps. Maybe a little longer. :)
Feelay all you need are longer ropes to tie that Ranger to the dock. Problem solved. Your welcome:)
Placement was dependent on water access throughout the year and $$. Rees, your idea is a good one and was the first choice but the length would have substantially increased the cost. If any of you have worked for a large corporation, you know things aren't always as they seem from the outside and there are tons of hurdles to overcome. This is twofold for most government agencies. A huge attempt has been made in the last 4-5 years to listen to the public on recommendations for the projects. Some are good and we have tried to accomplish, some not so good. Floating docks were one of those requests that were seen on here and mentioned to the ranger force so and an attempt has been made to appease that request. We hope you will find these additions along with the new restroom/shower facilities, cleaning stations, and sewage hookups in the Class A campgrounds (just to name a few) to your liking. And we really appreciate all of the volunteer efforts that are made. It is a huge part of cleanup days, habitat days, and many other special events that wouldn't be possible without the volunteers.
Yep, and GOD knows you got plenty of rope!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

dont know your affiliation with COE , but while we're on this subject.... can you share any input on the river ramp on Hwy 7 ? Like .. what were they thinking? Tons of taxpayer dollars was wasted on that project. The idea was great , but ramp is only accessible a few months out of the year. Why don't they dredge a channel from river bed to ramp ?
State regulations wouldn't allow the ramp to go directly into the river. I agree that it is troublesome and a fix to it is in the works but may take years to get the required funding. An attempt is made to clean it out several times each year but it silts back in as soon as the river comes up and falls.
"An attempt is made to clean it out several times each year but it silts back in as soon as the river comes up and falls"
What is done with the clean out? If piled to the side it will only wash back in. Rock off some low areas and back fill like Memphis had Riverside drive done. Contact some landfills to use it to cover the garbage.
Enid has their habitat day set in stone, the first saturday of Feb. Grenada has theirs the second weekend, Butla has theirs the third weekend. That leaves Sardis with the last weekend of Jan or the last weekend Feb so it doesn't work against the other 3.
Enid has a great force of volunteers to help where needed, the turnout on habitat day shows it with close to 200 workers and some great/good food and door prizes. Like Joel pointed out when you run off volunteer help you run off others that could help just by word of mouth.
